Today is a fun one, we’re riding with Delta on their flagship A350-900 in Delta One Business Class. This is marketed as the top of the line service, seat, and aircraft in the Delta Fleet and know as Delta One Suites. I’ve ridden on it a few times in the past, but it’s been several years so this will be my first A350 Delta One Review. Delta One, despite the name, is a business class product. Delta One Suites is can be found on the Delta A350 and A330Neo. These Business Class seats have privacy doors and every seat has direct aisle access.

I’ve been looking forward to this trip for a while, but as always it’s bitter sweet. This is unfortunately the end of our spring vacation and our trip home, at least we can finish on a high note.

Bottom Line: I very much enjoyed my trip in Delta One on the A350. The seats on the Delta A350 are great, fantastic entertainment selection, good bedding, and decent food. I’d be very happy to ride in Delta One Suites again.

Delta One A350 Boarding HND

Delta One A350 Boarding

We spend about an hour in the Delta Skyclub here at HND(Full Review), when we got the notification to board, we walked to the gate. This is the last Delta flight of the day here at HND.

Delta One A350 Boarding

Our Delta A350 was waiting at the gate to take us to Atlanta. The HND airport is a pretty pleasant experience, other than the kinda dumb terminal bus(Review Here).

Delta One A350 Boarding

Boarding started on time, and we boarded with Delta One Zone. They’re using two jet bridges here at HND so we used the forward boarding door.

Delta One A350 Cabin

Delta A350 Delta One Cabin

The Delta One cabin on the A350 is very nice, lots of space and this particular plane appears to be in very good shape. The Delta One Cabin has 32 Suites arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration.

Delta A350 Delta One Cabin

The center section seats have a lower-able divider that can be used for some privacy, or lowered so that you can talk with your seatmate. These would be nice seats if you have a travel partner. But Val and I usually end up just sitting one in-front of the other at the window.

Delta A350 Delta One Cabin

Our seats are on the left hand side, one in front of the other. I’m in an even row, this means my seat is further from the window with my side table between me and the window. Val’s in an odd number, so her’s is reversed.

Delta A350 Delta One Cabin Seats

Both types of seats are very good, just different. If you like easy aisle access and a little more storage the even numbers are better. The odd numbers are better for a little more privacy, at least when the doors are open.

Delta One A350 Seat Comfort and Features

Delta A350 Delta One Cabin Seats

In my seat there was an amenity kit, pillow, blanket, slippers, and mattress pad. I really appreciate the mattress pad and I’m glad Delta is including them on these longer flights.

Delta A350 Delta One Seats

Leg room in the Delta One seats on the A350 is very good. The staggered configuration does mean you’ll have a foot box, but I never found it to be restricting.

Delta A350 Delta One Seat Features

In the storage cubby near my left shoulder, there was a set of headphones and a bottle of water. While I’m sure the headphones are fine, I always bring my Sonys.

Delta A350 Delta One Seat Features

Below that, there is a headphone jack, universal 110v power port, and a USB port to charge devices.

Delta A350 Delta One Seat Features

To my right there is a light and the door release. On the ground, the door has to be open.

Delta A350 Delta One Seat Features

At my side, separating me from the window is the side table. It has a set of controls for the seat, a storage compartment, and the tray table. These smaller selection of seat controls just has the lights, do not disturb, and then seat up/down. You can see it well while lying down.

Delta A350 Delta One Seat Controls

On top, there is a more complete set of controls. It can control everything in the seat but you cannot see it while laying down in the seat.

Delta A350 Delta One Seat Features

The Delta One Suites on the A350 do use a shoulder harness for takeoff and landing. It’s removable and once in flight, can be detached and retracted.

Delta A350 Delta One Seat Features

Something I like about riding with Delta is they have individual air vents overhead. I will note the center section doesn’t have these due to the ceiling heights.

Delta One A350 In Seat Entertainment

Delta A350 Delta One Seat Entertainment

The inseat entertainment is very good. Nice larger responsive screen. The selection is also very solid, tons of movies and shows.

Delta A350 Delta One Seat Entertainment

The screen is located right over the seat and does bounce back and forth between the seats near and far from the window. It doesn’t tilt down when you’re lying down but the viewing angle is pretty good and isn’t an issue.

Delta A350 Delta One Seat Entertainment

Under the armrest there is a remote for the entertainment. There’s also a vanity mirror on the bottom of the lid.

Delta One A350 Departure

Delta A350 Delta One Departure

The lead flight attendant came around and welcomed me and Val to the flight. He also confirmed our pre-ordered meal selection but did hand out a menu so we can see the drink options along with the second meal.

Delta A350 Delta One Departure

Each suite has 2 windows to view from. These even numbered seats that are closer to the aisle and further from the window don’t have as good a view as the odd numbered seats.

Delta A350 Delta One Pre-Departure Beverage

Next another flight attendant came around and asked if we wanted prosecco, orange juice, mimosa, or beer. I went with the prosecco. It was pretty good, but not amazing.

Delta A350 Delta One Departure

The Delta a350 doesn’t have over head bins in the center section of business class. Only on the sides, so the cabin looks really great and large, but there’s not as much space. It’s not usually an issue, just something to note.

Delta One A350 Push-back and Takeoff

Delta A350 Delta One Departure

Right on time the door was shut. The flight attendants then came around and collected our glasses. The jet bridges were both retracted. The pilot added his welcome, told us it will be a 11:55 flight to Atlanta today.

Delta A350 Delta One Safety Video

We pushed back from the gate right on time and the safety video was shown.

Delta A350 Delta One Departure

We taxied to the runway as the sun was starting to set here in Tokyo. Like I said before, this is the last Delta departure of the day at HND.

Delta A350 Delta One Departure Cabin Lights

The cabin lights were dimmed and the flight attendants took their seats before we took off.

Delta A350 Delta One Takeoff HND

Without much delay we were on the runway then airborne.

Delta A350 Delta One Takeoff HND

As we left Tokyo I loved the view below. This time of night is just perfect for a little window gazing.

Delta One A350 Business Class Menu

Delta A350 Delta One Menu

While I had pre-selected my main meal, they still gave us menus as that lists the drinks, second meal, and snacks.

Delta One A350 Business Class Dinner

Delta A350 Delta One Meal

About 45 minutes after the flight, hot towels were given out to start the meal.

Delta A350 Delta One Meal Drinks

Next came the drinks, I opted for a nice Sweetwater 420. 2 weeks of drinking Asian beers and I’m really looking forward to something a little more dense.

Delta A350 Delta One Meal Appetizer

The appetizer course for my Japanese meal was very well presented but not really my style. There was a whole host of options, Smoked Salmon, Eggplant, Tofu, Chicken, Etc. Small plants are fun, but I didn’t really care for all of these being cold options.

Delta A350 Delta One Meal Main Course

The main course was very much my style. It was a braised beef in broth served with rice. They offered me another beer and I went with a Fat Tire this time.

Delta A350 Delta One Meal Main Course

The rice was in this interesting wrapping. It almost reminded me of a banana leaf but was made from paper. The rice was very good, and I like rice.

Delta A350 Delta One Meal Desert

Finally I decided to have the chocolate tart for desert. This was excellent and probably my favorite part of the meal. I had another Fat Tire for dessert. Desert was served about 2 hours after takeoff.

Delta A350 Delta One Water

To end the meal, the flight attendants offered bottles of water. As always, I take and drink these. On long flights it’s really easy to become dehydrated, especially when the drinks are flowing.

Delta One A350 Business Class Lavatory

Delta A350 Delta One Lavatory

After the meal I headed to the bathroom to change into something a little more comfortable for sleeping. The bathroom here is adequate, but not huge. I was able to change pretty comfortably without pulling a Tommy Boy.

Delta One A350 Sleeping Comfort

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Sleeping Comfort

I made up my bed with the mattress pad, pillow, and comforter.

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Sleeping Comfort

They do ask you to close the windows before going to sleep, at some point we’re going to be back into the daylight and if you’re asleep, you don’t need the window open.

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Sleeping Comfort Door Closed

In my Delta One Suite I closed the door and dimmed the lights here in the seat.

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Cabin

The cabin lights were dimmed as the dinner service had concluded. They do leave some very slight mood lights on for the whole flight.

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Sleeping Comfort

I put on a movie and got settled into my seat. When configured as a bed it’s pretty comfortable, the seat is wide enough and I’m not very tall so I have plenty of space.

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Cabin In Flight

The Delta One Business Class Cabin on the A350.

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Cabin In Flight

The Delta One Business Class Cabin on the A350. Once the lights were dimmed, I was able to get a good 5 hours of sleep, or at least something close to sleep. That’s pretty good for me on a plane, even in business class with a lie flat seat I’m just not a good plane sleeper.

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Cabin In Flight Snacks

In the rear galley of the Delta One Cabin there is a selection of snacks and drinks. The instant noodles seem popular but I just went for some cookies. I also like that there’s water provided during the flight.

Delta One A350 Breakfast

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Cabin In Flight Breakfast

With about 2 and a half hours left in the flight, the cabin lights were slowly increased. I woke up and while I’m not really hungry, eating is something to do.

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Cabin In Flight Breakfast

While it’s not a breakfast drink, I wanted a Sprite with my meal. We’re landing into Atlanta in the afternoon so I figure I’m allowed.

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Cabin In Flight Breakfast

For breakfast I opted for the frittata. It was served with sausage and potatoes. It was decent. I’m not usually one for eggs on planes, but a frittata is about the best option for plane eggs.

Delta A350 Delta One Suite Cabin In Flight Breakfast

In my seat I still had the mattress pad on the seat but it’s very comfortable like this. I also watched another movie as we continued towards Atlanta.

Delta One A350 Decent and Arrival

Delta A350 Delta One Arrival

With about 30 minutes left in the flight, the pilot told us that we’d begun our decent and would be landing soon.

Delta A350 Delta One Arrival Window View

Outside, it’s daytime and looks like a pretty nice day.

Delta A350 Delta One Arrival Cabin

The flight attendants then gave their pre-landing announcements and passed through to collect trash. I changed into my street clothes. Definitely use the forward lavatory for that, it’s bigger than the one between premium select and Delta one.

Delta A350 Delta One Arrival Chocolate

The Flight attendants passed out chocolates and thanked us for flying with Delta today.

Delta A350 Delta One Arrival Window

We’re getting close to landing as the flight attendants come through and do their final safety checks.

Delta A350 Delta One Arrival Seat

I put my bedding onto the foot rest and put my regular shoes back on. I like that Delta is provided slippers on these flights and have been wearing them for most of the flight.

Delta One A350 Landing

Delta A350 Delta One Arrival and Landing

One more look out the window before landing in Atlanta and heading back to reality.

Delta A350 Delta One Arrival and Landing

And on the ground here in Atlanta, we landing right on time.

Delta One A350 Business Class Final Thoughts

Delta One Suites on the A350 is a great hard product. The seat is comfortable for both sitting and sleeping. It’s also very private with the door to the suite closed. The provided bedding is top notch, not the absolute best I’ve ever had, but very close. By including the mattress pad Delta has upped their game. The in seat entertainment is very good. Huge selection of movies and shows on a nice large screen. There’s even a remote if you want to use it, but it’s also a responsive touch screen.

The meals in Delta One are good, but not great. Even for plane food they were a little disappointing and I’m not expecting a whole lot. The main dinner was fine, but the desert was certainly the best part. The breakfast was decent and I was hungry enough to eat it all.

The Delta One Suite on the A350 is the top tier business class product in the fleet and for good reason. I’d gladly ride in it again.
