The worst seat in the entire airline fleet is certainly a high claim, but I firmly believe that I can justify that the 717 Row 29 seat D is the worst seat in the mainline Delta Air Lines fleet. On our final leg home from Alaska, I sat in the worst seat on Delta, maybe in the whole sky.

The Delta 717 is usually a plane I enjoy, even in economy the 2-3 seating arrangement is better than the 3-3 seating on most narrow body planes. Less middle seats make the Delta 717 good for couples and solo travelers. We ended up on this flight because we landed early from another and I’ll gladly give up good upgraded seats to land 4 hours early. Because no matter how comfortable the plane is, my house is better.

Bottom Line: The Delta 717 Row 29 Seat D is the worst seat in the Delta fleet. I was so happy to be sitting in this terrible seat. I honestly was glad to have it, as bad as it is, I was ready to be home instead of waiting around for 4 hours in Atlanta.

I’ve flown on and reviewed the Delta 717 a few times, if you’d like to check those out:

Delta 717 Economy: Worst Seat In the Fleet

Ok, here it is, the worst seat in the Delta Air Lines fleet. The 717 Row 29 Seat D. This is the last row middle seat.

The leg room is tight, but no worse than any other seat on the Delta 717 in economy. However due to the bathroom behind, there’s no recline. Yes, it’s bad.

Like the rest of the plane, the Delta 717 is the last mainline aircraft to not have in seat entertainment.

Overhead bin space isn’t bad, but if you’re boarding last, it might fill up before you board.

Looking forward, you can see the entire plane. When you land you can expect a pretty good wait before you can deplane. Everyone else gets off the plane before you.

Delta 717 Worst Seat View

And the view from this row. Because the 717 has rear engines, there’s no window. It’s also loud as the engine is attached to the plane about 18 inches from your head. Because of the lack of view and no in seat entertainment, it’s pretty boring back here, bring a book or podcast on your phone. I don’t usually buy internet access but would consider it for longer flights in this seat.

On this short Delta flight between ATL and GSP there’s no snack or drink service.

Delta 717 Worst Seat Final Thoughts

I don’t think anyone would argue that the last row middle seat on the Delta 717 is a good seat. I personally think it’s the worst seat in the sky, but I’d be open to arguments for other seats. It’s just all around bad, but I was so happy to have it. I genuinely mean it, I was glad to sit here.

This seat is just bad all around. Middle seat, no view, near the bathroom, no recline, loud, and last to deplane. At the end of the day, it got me home 4 hours early so I loved sitting here, but the flight was only 28 minutes so obviously my opinion might change if you stuck me here for 3 hours.
