While in Milan, we’re staying at the Hotel 5. This was a great location and hotel while we went to the Grand Prix at Monza and also exploring Milan. As it was during the Formula 1 race, prices in Milan for hotel’s were high and there wasn’t much opportunity for an award booking as we booked this trip somewhat late. I like staying at smaller properties like the Hotel 5 in these situations.

Bottom Line: We really enjoyed the Hotel 5 in Milan. The location in the Porta Romana neighborhood was perfect, there’s easy transit and great restaurants. The Hotel 5’s rooms were comfortable and quiet enough, they were clean and large enough for 2 people with small luggage.

Hotel 5 Milan Location

Hotel 5 is located in the Porta Romana neighborhood in South East Milan. The Hotel is located on a smaller street with very little car traffic, but there is a somewhat lively bar across the street so not exactly still quiet.

Hotel 5 Milan Entrance

This area has a much more neighborhood vibe than nearer to places like the Duomo. I very much enjoy that feel of smaller restaurants and grocery stores. There’s also easy access to the Metro and Milan Trams.

Hotel 5 Milan Check-in

Hotel 5 Milan Front Desk

We checked in at the front desk. The staff was super friendly and told us about the included breakfast and that the front desk is 24 hours.

Hotel 5 Milan Room Key

The Hotel 5 uses regular keys, not a keycard. Not a big deal, just the keychain is large in the pocket. If you want your room cleaned you leave your key with the front desk in the morning. If you’re good without, just hang on to it during the day.

Hotel 5 Queen Room

Hotel 5 Milan Queen room

The rooms at Hotel 5 Milan are not fancy, but they are comfortable and clean. This is about standard for a European hotel in terms of size and amenities.

Hotel 5 Milan Queen Bed

The bed only had a sheet but there was a comforter and extra pillows in the closet. I found the bed very comfortable, but Val likes a softer bed. Both sides of the bed had outlets for charging devices.

Hotel 5 Milan Desk and TV

The corner of the room has a small desk with the TV. We didn’t do any work here, this is a vacation trip for us.

Hotel 5 Milan In Room Drinks and Snacks

Hotel 5 Milan Mini Fridge

Inside there is a mini-bar with some drinks and snacks for purchase.

Hotel 5 Milan Tea and Coffee

There’s tea and coffee in the room, but it’s instant. If you want a fresh one in the morning, downstairs at the bar there is coffee included with the free breakfast.

Hotel 5 Bathroom

Hotel 5 Milan Bathroom

Very standard European hotel bathroom here at the Hotel 5. The hotel as a whole was very clean and well cared for. Plenty of towels and even slippers to wear around the room.

Hotel 5 Room View

Our room was facing the small street outside, just over top of the hotel entrance. The bar across the street was pretty lively, but the windows are shockingly sound resistant. Not sound proof, but really good.

Hotel 5 Complementary Breakfast

Hotel 5 Milan Breakkfast

The Hotel 5 does provide a complementary breakfast in the bar area each morning. Nothing fancy, but if you just want something light, it’s a good option.

Hotel 5 Milan Breakfast

We only had breakfast one morning during our stay at the Hotel 5. There’s mostly cold options with pastry, but there are a few hot items included like eggs and sausages.

Hotel 5 Milan Final Thoughts

The Hotel 5 in Milan isn’t a destination, but it’s a great place to stay. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff is extremely welcome and friendly. I really liked the neighborhood the Hotel 5 was in. Lots of great little restaurants for lunch and dinner. It’s also very easy to get here from either of the Milan airports via the metro or tram. From here to the city center is also very easy via public transport.

I’d gladly stay at the Hotel 5 in Milan when we return.
