Before a recent Air France A350 Business Class Flight(Full Review), we stopped into the SAS Lounge here at Newark Airport. We had a few hours to kill before our flight Paris with baby Violet so we stopped in. SAS is in a bit of an odd position right now. Previously they were a Star Alliance member but they recently joined Sky Team. Because of that, their route network in the US was previously focused on United hubs and why there’s an SAS lounge here at EWR. With Air France adding service to Newark, they use the SAS lounge.
Bottom Line: The SAS lounge is perfectly pleasant but is starting to show some age. This is most evident in the restrooms. The buffet was solid, staff was friendly, and the self-service bar was well stocked. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but the SAS lounge at EWR is a nice place to pass an hour or so.
SAS Lounge Newark EWR Location

The entrance to the SAS Lounge here at Newark is in Terminal B near gate B60. If you’re departing from Gates B60-68 you’ll be in this area. Due to the way Newark is arranged, if you’re not departing from here, you won’t have access to this part of the concourse after security.
SAS Lounge Newark EWR Space

After showing our boarding passes at the desk, we walked into the SAS Lounge. It’s a pretty large space and somewhat triangular shaped. The exterior walls do look outside, but it’s through a hallway so when people are boarding or deplaning from certain gates, they’ll walk by.

Looking from the front desk into the lounge. The main seating area is ahead, the buffet is to the left.

Inside the SAS Lounge, looking towards the buffet and the main seating area.

There are a few small separated spaces in the SAS Lounge, but for the most part, it’s one large room.

I’m really not sure about this space. It’s the smallest and most isolated room and I don’t quite understand it’s purpose. Just a dark small space to share.

There’s lots of different types of seating here. These high tops became more popular as the day went on. Early on, the arm chairs were more popular.
SAS Lounge Newark EWR Buffet

One area I’ll give SAS credit for is the selection of snacks at the buffet. There were some hot options, cold items, and desert. Nothing amazing, but solid and a heavy enough snack to stay busy.

The hot buffet options here at the SAS Lounge were soup and then some items like chicken meatballs.

There was also an option for lasagna. Kinda heavy before a long flight in my opinion.

I made myself a small salad before our flight. Air France is going to feed us dinner pretty soon after we takeoff so I don’t want to stuff myself.
SAS Lounge Newark EWR Self Service Bar and Drinks

The SAS Lounge here at Newark has a self service bar with draft beer, wine, and liquor. I’m not a heavy drinker when I fly, but it’s nice to grab a beverage and relax.

There was also a selection of flavored sparkling waters available. Val liked this very much.
SAS Lounge Newark EWR Final Thoughts
I’ll keep this simple, if you have access, are departing from Newark’s B60-B68 gates, and need somewhere to sit for an hour, you should go to the SAS Lounge. Don’t go out of your way, don’t spend money to enter, don’t get here earlier than you need, but otherwise it’s perfectly pleasant.
