On our trip to Vietnam, we stayed for 3 nights at the Le Méridien Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City. I mostly chose the Le Méridien Saigon due to the location and the relatively inexpensive price for a higher end property. Vietnam is inexpensive so I figured why not splurge on a nice hotel that I wouldn’t normally book. I’m not much of a high end brand person, I prefer smaller hotels, but Le Méridien Saigon was great.

Bottom Line: Le Méridien Saigon had large rooms, wonderful staff, and was the perfect place to stay as a first time visitor to Ho Chi Minh City. Le Méridien Saigon is a large property with a ton of amenities too. We really enjoyed our stay here at Le Méridien Saigon and would gladly stay here again.

Le Méridien Saigon Location

Le Méridien Saigon is located in Ho Chi Minh City District 1. District 1 is often recommended for first time visitors to Saigon. While I’ve not stayed in other areas, I did like District 1 as a place to base ourselves. It was easy to get around via walking or using taxis. The hotel is located right on the banks of Saigon River so half of the hotel overlooks the river, the other side overlooks the city.

Le Méridien Saigon Check-In and Lobby

Le Méridien Saigon Lobby

We arrived at the Le Méridien a few hours before check in time, the front desk staff was extremely friendly and told us that unfortunately our room wasn’t ready yet. They stored our bags and directed us to the bar where we could have a drink while we waited. As we were walking away, she ran after us and said that our room had just shown as available and we’re able to check in. Perfect timing!

Le Méridien Saigon Hallway

Heading to our room, the rooms open up into an atrium. We’re on the 18th floor so we have a nice high room.

Le Méridien Saigon King Bed Room Review

Le Méridien Saigon King Room First Impressions

We were escorted to our room my the bellhop. The whole staff here at Le Méridien Saigon were amazing, just unbelievably friendly and pleasant. In fact, all of the people we got to meet in Vietnam were amazing.

Le Méridien Saigon King Bed

The king bed at Le Méridien was very comfortable. I also liked the pillows. On both sides of the bed there were outlets to charge devices. The plugs in the hotel were generic multi port plugs so you don’t need an adapter.

Le Méridien Saigon Room

Near to the window was a day bed. We mostly used this as a place to store dirty clothes or the occasional seat to put on shoes.

Le Méridien Saigon Desk Area

Excuse the mess, but opposite of the bed was a desk. We’re on vacation so I don’t need to use it.

Le Méridien Saigon AV Connections

At the desk were more universal power outlets along with AV connections to the TV.

Le Méridien Saigon TV

Opposite from the bed is the TV. There are also some bottles of water provided. The room here at the Le Méridien Saigon was huge, absolutely massive space for being in the middle of a city.

Le Méridien Saigon Bathroom Review

Le Méridien Saigon Bathroom

The bathroom here at Le Méridien Saigon, like the rest of the room, is very large. It’s also exclusively made from marble. It’s way more luxurious that I’m accustomed to. One thing to note is that the bathroom is separated from the room with a large glass window, there is a blind, but just something to note.

Le Méridien Saigon Bathroom

The toilet was in it’s own room, but again has a slightly opaque door made from glass.

Le Méridien Saigon Bathroom Amenities

The amenities in the bathroom were very nice too.

Le Méridien Saigon Mini Bar

Le Méridien Saigon Mini Bar

Below the TV and inside the cabinet was a mini bar with drinks. These were not included in the room but we did use the fridge to stash drinks.

Le Méridien Saigon In Room Snacks

There was also a selection of booze along with some snacks in the drawer.

Le Méridien Saigon Room Amenites

Le Méridien Saigon Room Amenities

In the other drawers were a bar set for any drinks you want to make yourself in the room.

Le Méridien Saigon Tea and Coffee

Another drawer contained the kettle and a selection of tea and coffee. We didn’t drink any of this as there are some great coffee shops in Vietnam.

Le Méridien Saigon Spa and Pool

Le Méridien Saigon Spa and Pool

There was some construction going on so to get to the 9th floor we had to use a specific elevator. Once here it was mostly business as usual, but the bar was closed.

Le Méridien Saigon Spa and Pool

Near the poll was a desk where you could make reservations for the spa. You can also just get a towel if you’re going to the pool or sauna.

Inside the sauna Le Méridien Saigon.

Le Méridien Saigon Spa and Pool

The men’s locker room was very nice and spotlessly clean.

Le Méridien Saigon Spa and Pool

The pool here on the 9th floor was great. This is about midway up the hotel so our room was higher but the view was about the same. The pool has an infinity edge overlooking the river. There are also tables and you can get snacks and drink service if you want. The pool was great for cooling off in the afternoon before getting cleaned up for dinner.

Le Méridien Saigon Room View

Le Méridien Saigon Room View

We had a room that faced the Saigon River. This was a great view overlooking the river and bridges. I was surprised at the amount of green space on the other side, but it looks like that’s soon going to be taken by construction.

Le Méridien Saigon Entrance and Taxi Stand

Le Méridien Saigon Exterior and Taxi Stand

The front of the hotel in the evenings is really nice. It’s certainly a grand entrance. The other great thing is that there was always a taxi waiting out front and they were always Vinasun brand taxis. This is a very reliable taxi company and were great for getting around the city.

Le Méridien Saigon Lobby Coffee Shop and Bar

Le Méridien Saigon Coffee Shop

In the lobby of Le Méridien Saigon there was a nice little coffee shop and bar. On the way to the airport, Val stopped in to get some coffee to go. We didn’t check out the other restaurant options in the hotel.

Le Méridien Saigon Final Thoughts

Le Méridien Saigon was the perfect hotel for us as first time visitors to Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City. The location in District 1(Saigon) was a great place to base ourselves for exploring the city on our 3 night stay. The staff at Le Méridien was amazing, everyone we talked with was so inviting and welcoming. The room was huge and so clean. The bathroom was just as nice to match with both a shower and a bath. Just look out for the glass wall.

The pool on the 9th floor was a great way to relax as a mid day break. The spa looked fantastic but we just used the toilets there as we swam at the pool. The view from the pool and our room overlooking the river was great too. Outside the hotel was a great neighborhood for walking and exploring. If you want to go further, there’s always a good taxi outside the Le Méridien that can take you wherever you want to go.

I would highly recommend Le Méridien here in Saigon.
