After working and staying up in West Chester for the week, I’m flying home from CVG. Because I have a really early flight in the morning, I decided to just stay down near the Cincinnati Airport the night before the flight. I ended up at the SpringHill Suites Cincinnati Airport South, mostly due to price and location.
Bottom Line: For an airport hotel, the SpringHill Suites surprised me. I was impressed with how large the rooms were and how clean everything was. This very much reminded me of the SpringHill Suites Milwaukee(review here). I think the other large draw for the hotel would be the Turfway Park Casino and Race Track that’s just across the parking lot. If needed, I’d gladly choose the SpringHill Suites here at CVG.

SpringHill Suites Cincinnati Airport Location
The SpringHill Suites is just to the south of the CVG Airport. It’s not the closest hotel to the airport, but I thought this area would be a little easier to get dinner. While there’s not much you can walk to from the hotel, there are some restaurants within a close drive. Obviously you would choose this hotel for it’s proximity to the airport, it’s about an 8 minute drive to the CVG airport terminal.
SpringHill Suites Cincinnati Airport Lobby and Check-in

I arrived at the SpringHill Suites just around 6pm on a Thursday. While walking into the hotel I noticed that there should be a good view of planes taking off if I got a room on the front of the building. When I checked in, I asked for one of those rooms and the agent said it would be no problem, even number rooms are on that side.

The rest of the lobby was a nice space too. This is also the area where free breakfast is served in the mornings, I didn’t get a chance to check it out as my flight departed at 6am and breakfast started at 6am so I was long gone. There was coffee, tea, and water available all the time though.
SpringHill Suites Cincinnati Airport 2 Queen Room

I walked into the 2 Queen room here at the SpringHill Suites and I was immediately reminded of the SpringHill Suites in Milwaukee. That’s a good thing, I liked that hotel too. The room space was divided into two distinct areas separated by the desk. Near the door is a mini fridge, microwave, and a coffee maker.

When you walk in, is the livingroom type space with a sofa and ottoman. I really like when hotel rooms have a sitting area so that you don’t have to just sit on the bed the whole time.

The desk that divides the two parts of the room. I did have some work to get done tonight before flying out and made good use of the desk.

Looking down the room is the TV that can pivot to face the beds or the sofa. Further down the room is the entrance to shower room, the toilet room, and the closet.

The two beds were comfortable, but there was something a little odd. The bed further from the window(and the one I slept in) was nice and smooth looking.

The bed closer to the window was kinda lumpy, and I just don’t know why. I usually sleep in the bed further from the window in these situations, not sure why, just habit.

Between the two beds was a night stand with outlets to charge devices. There were not outlets or tables on the outer side of the beds, something to keep in mind if you’re sleeping two in a bed.

The view from the bed looking towards the TV and the toilet room. The TV can swivel to face the sofa or the beds.
SpringHill Suites Cincinnati Airport Bathroom

The bathroom here at the CVG SpringHill is divided into two different rooms. The room on the left is where the shower and main sink are. Just note that the toiletries at the SpringHill are the bulk style, so if that bugs you, bring your own.

The bathroom was very clean but it’s a little odd that it’s so close to the beds. The beds are looking right into the bathrooms, there are of course doors.

The next door over is for the toilet. There’s also another sink for hand washing.

This separate room for the toilet is probably really nice if you need to get ready for an event, with more than one person, who don’t want share a room while pooping.
SpringHill Suites Cincinnati Airport Room View

Ok, it’s a suburban airport hotel, the view from the SpringHill isn’t going to be amazing. The Hotel is located south of the airport, so with the right wind, there is a good view of planes departing. Not as good as the Hampton Inn at CLT(Review Here) but still good.
SpringHill Suites Cincinnati Airport Pool, Gym, and Patio

On the first floor of the hotel, near the elevator is a small gym with mostly cardio equipment. The gym was open 24 hours with a room key used for access.

The pool was just next to the gym. When I first checked-in there were some people using the pool, but later in the evening it was empty. Nothing amazing here, just a standard small pool.

Out front of the hotel was a small patio area. Anyone who’s stayed at a hotel near a major commercial construction site know this is where the workers will spend their evenings.
SpringHill Suites Cincinnati Airport Final Thoughts

The SpringHill Suites at the CVG airport is a nice little hotel that’s perfect for a night before a flight. If you have an event at the The Turfway Park Casino and Race Track, this hotel would also be a great option too. Beyond that there’s not much else in the area that would draw people in, but it’s nice that there’s a decent hotel option if you find yourself in the CVG area.
The hotel room was large, clean, and comfortable. Apart from the occasional airplane takeoff, the hotel was very quiet. Plane noise, from this distance, doesn’t bother me, it’s almost relaxing. I liked that the rooms have distinct areas for sitting, working, and sleeping. I also liked the separate toilet room from the bathroom, great for when you have more than one person in the room.
I did enjoy the SpringHill Suites, but there was a TownPlace Suites just across the parking lot that looked a little newer. If I came back again I’d check that out first, but only if the price was the same.
