As a continuation of our trip around the world, we’re spending 3 nights just outside of Da Nang at the Sheraton Grand Resort. As this portion of the trip is sandwiched between Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore, we wanted a little bit of a break and going to the Sheraton Grand Danang Resort on the beach sounded like a great idea. We ended up loving this little break during our trip.
Bottom Line: The Sheraton Danang has amazing grounds, a fantastic pool, a nice beach, and all the amenities you’d expect from a 5 star resort. We opted for a room with a private pool as the cost was very reasonable. As with everything in Vietnam, the prices are very good and we might as well splurge. I would gladly recommend the Sheraton Grand Danang to anyone who want’s a beach side getaway during their trip to Vietnam.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Location
The Sheraton Grand Danang Resort is located about 25 minutes by car south of Danang and about 30 minutes North of Ho An. This isn’t a city location, it’s mostly surrounded by other resorts and then inland there are some small shops. If you want to walk out of the resort, there are a few small shops but nothing fancy. I really enjoyed it.
Getting to the Sheraton Grand from Da Nang will almost certainly involve a taxi/Grab ride. From the airport the ride took about 30 minutes and cost the equivalent of $8.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Lobby and Check-in

We arrived at the Sheraton Grand Danang from the DAD airport via Grab.

Outside, on the second level we were greeted by the hotel staff. The first floor is where we mostly left the hotel when we walked out of the resort.

The lobby of the Sheraton is huge and just covered in marble. This part of Vietnam is famous for it’s marble.

Around the lobby were little sitting areas. I thought this one was interesting being surrounded by a fountain.

The check in desks were off to the right and of course our bags were handled by the staff. I’m still not super comfortable with that, I’m just not a high class person I guess.

We were escorted to sit at a table while the front desk clerk handled the paperwork. We were presented with a nice juice drink and some more cold towels and then a few signatures later we had our room keys.

We were then escorted out of the Sheraton lobby out to a waiting cart. Our room is in the farthest tower and the hotel staff was insistent they help us with our bags.

Along the ride to the room the bell hop pointed out all of the features and amenities of the hotel. He, like everyone in Vietnam, was so friendly and welcoming. He also said that if we ever needed a ride around the hotel, just call the front desk and they’d come pick us up. We didn’t ever feel the need but it is an option.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Private Pool Room

Our king bed room is located on the first floor of tower closest to the beach. Outside you can see our private patio area with our own pool!

The room here at the Sheraton Danang was spotlessly clean. I also loved the bed, it was the perfect firmness for me. The room is also very large, lots of space to spread out and unpack some things.

Across from the bed there was a TV and desk area. We promptly covered the desk area with clothes, beach gear, and empties.

Near the door was a luggage rack, just big enough to fit both of our Pelicans.

Next to the door was a closet. Inside were all the amenities you’d expect for a hotel of this quality. I do like that there’s an umbrella in the room, it rains in a lot of the afternoons, so when we left the hotel, we also took the umbrella.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Room Amenities

In the room was a small fridge that was great for keeping a few beers and some water. We walked to a little store that’s just across the street from the Sheraton and got beers, water, and snacks.

There’s also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. No mini-bar though, not that I use them.

Scattered around the room were universal outlets and USB charging points.

It wouldn’t be South East Asia unless there is a warning about Durian.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Bathroom

The bathroom here at the Sheraton Danang is huge and again covered with marble.

There’s both a shower and tub.

Behind the shower and next to the sink was the toilet.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Private Room Pool

Because we opted for the room with a private pool, our room walked out into a private area with our own pool, table, and lounge chairs.

Looking down building at the other pools. The entire time we were here, I didn’t see another person outside at their pool. It’s somewhat the shoulder season so I don’t think hotel occupancy was very high.

Looking to the left from our pool area you could see the main pool and the South China Sea beyond.

In the distance you could see the Cù Lao Chàm Islands.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Pool Area

One of the first features of the Sheraton Danang you’ll see is the amazing pool. It stretches nearly the full length of the property. From the main lobby all the way to an infinity edge at the beach.

Looking down the whole length of the pool at night.

The pool has several foot bridges that cross from one side to the other. This is looking back towards the main lobby building. The two buildings on the right make up the majority of the hotel rooms.

From the same bridge, looking out at the Sea and where the infinity pool edge falls.

Surrounding the pool are lots of chairs with umbrellas. We never had to hunt for a great seat by the pool, and there were always friendly attendants.

While none of the pool is very deep, around some of the edges it is very shallow and there are lounge chairs in the water to relax on.

The views from the Sheraton pool area were amazing. You could look out over the sea at watch the boats go by. You could also do a little plane watching of the planes heading to DAD airport.

The grounds of the Sheraton Danang were so well kept. Everything was just perfect for relaxing.

We mostly drank beers that we purchased at the little shop outside of the resort.

For kids, there was a water play area with slides and a shallow pool.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Restaurants
The Sheraton Grand Danang has full service dining facilities of all different levels. We’re not “stay at the resort” type of people so we didn’t try everything, or even eat many meals here, but what we did we enjoyed.
Room and Pool Side Dining

The Sheraton Danang had lots of onsite meal options. We did try a couple of the options but we mostly ate our meals outside of the hotel. We had room service for lunch one day and the same menu is available pool side.
Le Page Pool Side Bar

Facing the beach and pool is Le Page. It’s a relaxed area that you can get a full meal or just drinks.

We did visit one night and it being the shoulder season, it was nice and relaxed. Only a few other people were out here in the evenings.

After dinner one night we had desert and drinks.
Lobby Tea Lounge

In the lobby there was a bar and cafe called the tea lounge.

After we checked out, we had about 25 minutes to kill before heading to the airport so we decided to get some drinks and snacks. It was perfectly pleasant and would be good on check in too.
Table 88, The Grill, Mix Bar

Within the main lobby building there are 3 more restaurants and bars that we didn’t try. Table 88 is a high end dining restaurant with an open kitchen that is only open in the evenings for dinner. The Grill is a restaurant that is open for lunch and serves more casual fare. The Mix Bar in the lobby is open most hours for cocktails, beer, and wine. We didn’t try out any of these venues but they all looked very nice, we’re just not too much into hotel restaurants.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Beach

The beach out front of the Sheraton Danang Resort is a great place to relax. There are activities offered by the resort like sailing and riding in traditional shaped boats.

The water was nice a cool but we did see quite a few jelly fish so it’s best to keep an eye out.

Sitting on a beach, drinking a cheap beer, is one of my all time favorite activities. Just watch out for the afternoon thunder storms. At least they pass quickly.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Local Area
We’re not “hang out at the resort” people so we quickly decided to walk down to the street and see what kind of shops are in the local area.

Just across the street from the Sheraton Danang resort is a small street of shops. There are restaurants, coffee shops, and a little convenience store. We came to this area every day to buy drinks, snacks, and get morning coffee. It’s a fast walk, less than 5 minutes.

This fried chicken and rice meal we got from a restaurant outside of the resort was one of my favorites of the visit.

It was fun to walk down the entrance of the hotel at night. It has cooled off enough to be very enjoyable.

In the daytime it was always hot. When walking we used the lower entrance to the hotel. The upper level is where cars would drop off and pick up. There’s also an ATM on the lower level.

The entrance is definitely designed for car traffic and we were certainly the odd people out by walking into and out of the Sheraton. We liked it though.

Outside of the resort there were always Grab cars waiting. If you needed a ride, they were very fast to arrive.
Sheraton Grand Danang Resort Final Thoughts

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton Danang Resort. It was the perfect escape after and before traveling to mega cities. This is a long trip and relaxing on the beach and in the pool was just what we needed to recharge. I loved that our room had a private plunge pool. Vietnam is hot, it was great to come back to the hotel after exploring the area and jump into the pool and cool off.
The main pool was just huge and it was always easy to get a chair to relax just outside of, or just in the water. Walking down to the beach was easy too, we really enjoyed our time spent in and near the water with a drink in hand.
The Sheraton had all the amenities you’d expect but I really just loved walking out of the resort and getting some dinner and drinks at the little restaurants. We also shopped at the little convenience store every day to get beach supplies like beers and snacks.
I wouldn’t hesitate to come back to the Sheraton Danang.
