Vietnam Airlines operates a large hub at SGN airport here in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon). The hub serves both domestic and international destinations. As a part of this hub, Vietnam Airlines has the Lotus Lounge business class lounges. Here at SGN there’s a Lotus Lounge in the domestic terminal that can be used by business class passengers on domestic flights. The domestic and international terminals are separate and you cannot easily change between them due to passport control.

Bottom Line: The Vietnam Lotus Lounge here at the SGN domestic terminal is a nice place to spend a little time before a departing flight. The space is open, there are plenty of seating options, and the buffet selection is pretty decent. The Domestic Lotus Lounge here at SGN wasn’t very crowded, especially considering the volume of domestic flights within Vietnam. I liked the SGN Domestic Lotus Lounge and would recommend it.

Lotus Lounge SGN Domestic Terminal Location

Lotus Lounge SGN Domestic Terminal Entrance

The SGN Airport is divided into two terminals, Domestic and International. Here at the very end of the Domestic Terminal, next to gate 1, is the Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge. There are also lots of signs in the terminal that will direct you to the Vietnam Airlines Lounge.

When we checked in at the airport the agent informed us we can use the Lotus Lounge due to our Business Class tickets to Da Nang. Even though it’s a domestic Vietnamese flight, we still get access to the lounge, I’m pretty impressed with that.

The Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge here at the SGN Domestic Terminal is divided into two main spaces. Here is the larger of the two spaces, this one contains lots of tables, the buffet, a bar top, and the bar area.

On the other side of the dividing wall is more seating, this is more lounge type seating. We settled over on this side of the Lotus lounge.

Around the buffet were more cafe type tables.

This area with lounge style chairs was were we settled. No particular reason other than it’s close to the windows.

Lotus Lounge SGN Domestic Terminal Buffet

Lotus Lounge SGN Domestic Terminal Buffet

For a domestic lounge, the Lotus Lounge had great selection at the buffet. We’re here at the lounge right around lunch time so I’m not sure if there are different options throughout the day, but this is the midday offering. This part of the buffet had cold stuff with breads. There’s also a hot soup section with broth and noodles then you can add your own accoutrements.

There are some more cold salad selections. And this being Vietnam, there are lots of greens to accompany your hot food.

Finally the end of the buffet had lots of hot dishes. It was very will looked after by the lounge staff, the whole buffet was extremely clean.

We both ended up getting pretty similar foods. This was Val’s lunch of noodles in soup, stir fried glass noodles with shrimp, and fried tofu.

Along the back wall was a self service cooler with drinks. It was mostly soft drinks but there was also a selection of Vietnamese beer.

Near the entrance to the Lotus Lounge was a hallway that included the bathrooms. Here there are also some more amenities that were available. Nothing ground breaking here, but a solid selection for a domestic lounge.

Outside we got a view of gate 1 here at SGN. The gate was unoccupied while we were in the lounge. SGN is a very busy airport but uses a lot of remote bus gates so there are less than a dozen jet bridges here serving many more flights.

Lotus Lounge SGN Domestic Terminal Final Thoughts

The Lotus Lounge here at the SGN Domestic Terminal is solid, not the best lounge in the world, but very good. SGN is a busy domestic hub for Vietnam Airlines and the Lotus Lounge is available for business class passengers, even on flights within Vietnam, so we were given access. We were here at the lounge for just under an hour, I wouldn’t want to get to the airport much earlier.

The buffet selection a the domestic Lotus Louge was very good. We were easily able to get a nice light lunch before our flight up to Da Nang. The bar selection isn’t fantastic, but there are plenty of soft drinks. Seating is plentiful and there’s a few of the planes outside. The lounge never felt crowded but was busy, there are lots of departures from Ho Chi Minh. If you have access, I would recommend the Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge, just not for too long of a visit.

  1. I fly business class all around the world this is my first time with Vietnam airlines. I went into the Lotus lounge. I was shocked to be honest for business class it was horrible. No arrangements of alcohol wine and crappy beer that was it. No choice of wine either just super sweet and it tasted old. The only food that seemed to be good was the fruit options. I tried to have a salad and found a big black hair in it. No salad dressings to be had just a piece of lime. I tried to have the chicken and way over cooked rice and I have a bone stuck in my throat now.. I left! It is not worth the visit at all unless you drink like a child and live pop and juice and have no appreciation for a well made drink or even the lack of ability of making one because there is nothing to make one with. I asked for vodka and you would think I had three heads! I went down stairs and got a really cold tiger draft beer and so Pho it was delicious and I would rather pay than eat a drink the crap they serve for business class at the Lotus lounge. Dreadful and not worth the effort of calling it a business class lounge! Very disappointing and dissatisfied.
