This review of the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice is going to be a little different than most other reviews of the Venice Italy Hilton. Most of the other reviews I’ve seen take place in spring, summer, or fall. Not us, we’re weird, we decided to visit Venice the last week of November. This isn’t just the shoulder season, it’s off season for Venice Italy. Things are also different because of Covid, but I’ll talk about that later.

I chose the Hilton Stucky mostly due to the cost. It is the off season, but it’s still Venice so the hotel costs aren’t exactly cheap. I had a $200 hotel credit to burn so figured I would use it on this trip as well. The Hilton Stucky looked like a great base for our 3 night stay so I booked it.

Getting around Venice Italy obviously is different than most other cities, and transit to The Hilton Stucky Venice is no different and there are several options. I’ll discuss the transit options later. We drove to Venice from Verona and returned our rental car.

Bottom Line: The Hilton Molino Stucky is a great choice for visiting Venice. The hotel is beautiful, the location is great, and the rooms are very large. I loved the roof top bar, room views, and the upgraded suite.

In This Trip

Hilton Stucky Venice Location and History

The Hilton Stucky Venice is located on the north side of Giudecca Island. It’s important to remember that this is not on the main group of Venetian Islands. You cannot walk here from Piazza San Marco (St Mark’s Square) or the Venice Train Station.

This building has a fascinating history, I also don’t know that I’ve ever stayed in a hotel that has it’s own Wikipedia page.

The short history is that the Hilton Venice was originally built by Giovanni Stucky as a flour mill in the 1880s. This is very evident in the architecture, it oddly looks somewhat familiar to the cotton mills that are dotted around my home town of Greenville SC. The Mill was in operation until the 1950s though it had financial and labor issues throughout nearly it’s entire existence. It’s funny how shit don’t change. Nearly every mill in the world had those same issues during that time frame.

For nearly 40 years the building sat vacant. In the 1990s it was turned into a hotel while preserving the beautiful building’s architecture. In 2007 is was opened as the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice.

Getting to Hilton Stucky Venice

Hilton Stucky Venice

This was the first view we got of the Venice Hilton Hotel. It’s such an imposing and impressive structure. being so close to the water also really shows how much effort was put into the building.

Hilton Stucky Venice Arrival

There’s no way around it, you’ll be taking some kind of boat to the Hilton Venice. We arrived at the Palanca stop on the Vaporetto Number 2 Route.

Hilton Stucky Venice Walk

We were dropped off a short walk from the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice. It’s kinda cold, it’s late November and we’re walking by the sea. At least it’s beautiful, it is Venice after all.

Hilton Stucky Venice

After walking over the small bridge, we arrived out front of the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice. If you’re going to Venice, don’t forget you’ll need to carry your luggage over all the bridges and along the canals.

Hilton Stucky Venice Lobby

I will say, the entrance isn’t grand or amazing. It’s pretty much just a regular set of doors.

Hilton Stucky Venice Lobby

Hilton Stucky Venice Lobby

Walking into the Venice Hilton is a pleasant experience. Lots of high end furnishings and marble. We checked in at the desk on the right. To the left are the elevators.

Hilton Stucky Venice Lobby

Ahead is the lobby bar and executive lounge. Again, absolutely beautiful space. I love the open ceilings and beams. It pains me to see industry die, but I love the re-use of the space.

Hilton Stucky Venice Rooms

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite King Bed

Upstairs we walked into our room the the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice. I’m a Hilton Diamond member from all of my work travel and we were upgraded to a top floor corner suite. I’ll be the first to admit, hotel upgrades usually don’t do anything for me, most of the time I really don’t care. This one was different, we’ll get to that when you see the view from the room.

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite King Bed

The suite was divided into two rooms, there is a bedroom with a single king bed.

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite

The other room had a sofa, sitting chairs, TV overlooking Venice.

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite

There’s also a table with 4 chairs. This room would be great for someone with a family or getting ready for an event like a wedding. Lots of space for people to relax and hangout.

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite

There’s a door that separates the two rooms of the suite here at the Stucky Hilton.

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite

There’s no escaping that you’re in Venice when at the Hilton Molino Stucky. It’s just always present in view. I absolutely loved this, even if the decor was a little old fashioned.

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite

In the bedroom there is a desk along with the TV. We didn’t do any working while on this trip, but it’s always nice to have an area to get organized.

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite

Within the TV stand is a small fridge. Not a particularly common feature in Europe. It’s nice to have though, we can keep a bottle of water cold.

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite Bathroom

There are two bathrooms in the suite, the main one in the bedroom has a tub, shower, and toilet.

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite Bathroom

As always, I like having a shower instead of just a tub. That seems to be the norm in Europe.

Hilton Stucky Venice Suite Bathroom

In the living room there’s a second smaller bathroom with a sink and toilet room.

Hilton Stucky Venice Room View

The views outside are just indescribable but I’ll try. If I had to have a complaint I would say the is a lack of outlets for charging devices.

Hilton Stucky Venice Corner Suite Room View

Hilton Stucky Venice Room View

Looking out the living room area was a perfect view of the famous clock that’s perched atop the historic Stucky mill.

Hilton Stucky Venice Room View

Being on the top floor and looking down is just so cool. At night, with the lights on display, the view was even better.

Hilton Stucky Venice Room View

From the living room, the main view was looking out onto Venice. Watching boats go by was fun for me as a child and I still love it.

Hilton Stucky Venice Room View

There was always some activity on the lagoon. But the great part about boats is they are quiet. So even at night it was calm and easy to sleep at the Venice Hilton.

Hilton Stucky Venice Lobby Bar

Hilton Stucky Venice Lobby Bar

In the lobby is a bar and executive lounge. We didn’t try the lounge as I don’t really even like hotel bars or restaurants, but we had a credit to burn so we ended up in the lobby for a late night drink after a day of exploring.

Hilton Stucky Venice Lobby Bar

In the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice Lobby bar I enjoyed an evening beer and Val had a Prosecco. As always, drinks are served with snacks. Love that.

Hilton Stucky Venice Rooftop Bar

Hilton Stucky Venice Rooftop Bar

I’d just like to point out again it’s late November, it’s cold here in Venice so a rooftop bar probably isn’t the most popular thing going. However, we wanted to get a drink before going out for dinner so we went upstairs. There are lots of high top tables along the railing.

Hilton Stucky Venice Rooftop Bar

And along the wall, there are sofas along with low chairs. Overhead are nice outdoor heaters to keep us warm.

Hilton Stucky Venice Rooftop Bar

We found ourselves a nice table at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice roof top bar under the heaters and enjoyed our view of Venice.

Hilton Stucky Venice Rooftop Bar

I again had a beer and Val a cocktail. Again, and as always in Italy, it was served with little snacks. I still don’t like hotel bars, but again we had some hotel credit to burn and an hour to kill so why not.

Hilton Stucky Venice Rooftop Bar

The best reason to visit the Hilton Stucky Venice root top is the view. At night, the lights of the city are such a great sight.

Hilton Stucky Venice Shuttle Boat

Hilton Stucky Venice Shuttle Boat

Just outside the hotel is a blue pier. This is where the Hilton Venice shuttle boat docks. Hilton does charge for this service, for your entire stay, it’s $8.50 so it’s much cheaper than the regular Venice water busses.

Hilton Stucky Venice Shuttle Boat Schedule

When we checked in we received a time table for the shuttle. It has two stops, one in San Marco and one just across the canal at Zattere. We used both stops for different reasons.

Hilton Stucky Venice Shuttle Boat

The front of the boat had a nice seating area. Just a little bit of warning, the waters in the lagoon are rough, if you get seasick, use caution. The time to get across to Zattere was about 5 minutes. San Marco back to the Hilton was about 15.

If your using the boat to get to and from the Venice Hilton, they will gladly take your luggage dock side.
Hilton Stucky Venice Shuttle Boat

There’s just something great about boats in Venice at sunset. It’s not hard to see why Venice is such an amazing destination.

Hilton Stucky Venice Shuttle Boat

The rear of the shuttle boat also has seating and is a bit of a smoother ride if that’s your thing.

Hilton Stucky Venice across the canal.

From the Zattere landing the Hilton Stucky Venice just looks amazing at night. It’s really hard to take a bad photo in Venice.

Hilton Stucky Venice Exterior and Final Thoughts

Hilton Stucky Venice Clock

The exterior of the Hilton Venice just has an aesthetic that I love. It’s fun to remember this was a factory, an industrial place of work. Modern factories just don’t have the character.

Hilton Stucky Venice At night

Walking back at night to this sight was always fun. Being out on Giudecca was quiet at night, I really enjoyed getting away from the main islands in the evening. I was a little worried at first about being far away, but in the end, loved it.

Would I stay at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice again? Yes, I’d gladly stay here again. The rooms are large and clean. The corner suite had a perfect view of Venice. Getting to the hotel does take a little more effort that many of the other hotels in Venice, but really, it’s not a big deal. I like riding the Vaporetto.

The shuttle bus provided is nice and all, but a little silly when the Vaporetto are so frequent and easy to use.

The rooftop and lobby bar are standard Hilton Hotel fare, but with a Venetian touch.

Saying goodbye to Venice and the Hilton was hard. I really loved this portion of our trip. The good thing is that I get to leave by boat, and I love boats.
