We’re visiting family in London as a part of our round the world trip. While here, we’re staying at The Wesley Camden Town. The Wesley Camden Town is a somewhat unique hotel in that it’s in an old Methodist Church. The Wesley Camden Town is also a very new hotel, it opened in the spring of 2023 and we stayed there during one of their grand opening celebrations.
I’ve stayed at a few very new boutique hotels and the risk has really paid off. The CasAunoe Boutique Hotel (review here), is one of my all time favorite hotels and it was brand new with one google review when we visited.
Bottom Line: I like staying at these small boutique independent hotels. They just seem to be more fun and a little bit better value than the big brands. Here at The Wesley Camden Town that was no exception, the hotel was fantastic and for a very fare price.
The Wesley Camden Town Location
The Wesley Camden Town is located just to the south of Camden Town Tube Station. This is a great area to stay in. There are tons of bars, pubs, restaurants, and entertainment venues in Camden. It’s one of my favorite London neighborhoods. The public transportation in this area is very good too. Of course there’s the tube station, but there are tons of bus routes here too that can take you all around London.
The Wesley Camden Town Exterior and Check-in
The exterior of The Wesley Camden is very understated and you’d probably not figure it’s a hotel unless you knew what to look for. The Wesley Camden is an old church and I really like that they’ve kept the facade.
The lobby at the Wesley Hotel is very small. There’s just a desk in the corner. They check in was fast and easy though.
On the other side of the lobby is a table with a small sitting area that has a small library selection.
In the lobby was a plaque that showed the Camden Wesley Hotel was a Methodist Church and opened in February of 2023.
The Wesley Camden Town Queen Room
We walked into our queen bed room at the Camden Wesley and I was very pleased with my hotel choice. The room wasn’t huge, but it was very nice. It was also spotlessly clean.
In the room we found the queen bed.
Across from the bed was a wall mounted TV.
Next to the bed and towards the door was a desk. This trip, being a vacation, I didn’t need to get any work done.
There’s also tea and instant coffee along with a kettle.
To the right of the desk is a closet area. Not a big room so there isn’t a full closet with a door, but this is more than enough for us to hang some things we need.
Each side of the bed at the Wesley Camden has side tables. At each one there is power along with a reading light and then room lights.
This isn’t a big room. With two people, carry on bags, and backpacks there’s not a ton of space. You won’t be entertaining a group in the room, but for a nice place to sleep in a great location I love the Camden Wesley.
The Wesley Camden Town Bathroom
The bathroom is near to the door to the room. The bathroom, like the room, was not huge but was fantastically clean. I really liked all of the tile.
The sink area was small too, but really what more do you need from a hotel room in Camden.
The Wesley Camden Town Room View
Our view from the room wasn’t anything remarkable. Just overlooking the neighboring buildings. The weather in London was perfect though for us during our 2 night stay.
The Wesley Camden Town Final Thoughts
The Wesley Camden Town is a great hotel for a few nights in London. The location is just fantastic. Camden Town is a great area for visitors. There’s always something to do and getting to or from here from around London is very easy using the Tube or busses. There are a number of pubs and restaurants in the local area that are easy to walk to. The Wesley Camden doesn’t offer a breakfast but because the hotel is in Camden, there are a half dozen cafes and restaurants within a 2-3 minute walk.
I loved the rooms here at the Wesley Camden. While small, they were spotlessly clean and extremely nice. If I have to choose between size and quality, I’ll take quality every time. The Wesley is the perfect example of this. From the room fixtures and fittings through the tile work in the bathroom, nice and clean with not too much extra.
The rooms had all of the features you’d expect from a brand new hotel. Plenty of outlets next to the bed and on the desk to charge devices. The individual reading lights and room controls near the bed are great when you’re traveling with someone and don’t want to disturb them. At the end of the day the Wesley Camden is a perfect hotel when visiting London. I highly recommend it and would gladly return.
