Back to boring and I’m excited about it. Today I’ll be riding on and reviewing the Delta A321 in Main Cabin Economy. I like the Delta A321, it’s a comfortable plane and Delta uses them on lots of short to medium length routes around North America. While the A321 is capable of longer Trans-Atlantic flights, Delta’s don’t go that far away from home. The Delta A321s have 142 Main Cabin economy seats arranged in the standard 3-3 configuration. I’ve covered all of the Delta A321 cabins if you want to check out the differences.

My Delta A321 flight from the Atlanta Airport(Guide Here) to Milwaukee was perfectly pleasant. I would make one change to my seat selection, but I’ll talk about that later. Usually I get the ability to sit in Delta Comfort Plus, but I booked relatively late and all of the good seats were taken. I’d rather sit in a Main Cabin window or aisle seat than a Comfort Plus middle seat so that’s what I did. This flight was on time and comfortable and I’d gladly ride on the Delta A321 again.

Delta A321 Boarding

Delta A321 Boarding ATL

I arrived at the boarding gate just as they called the Diamond Medallion zone. Delta boards by zone, Diamond is the second zone, just after First Class but before Comfort Plus then Sky Priority where I’ll board.

Delta A321 Boarding ATL

Just a few minutes later it was my turn to board. Sorry, not picture of our the Delta A321 at the gate, this gate at ATL doesn’t give a good view of the plane from inside the terminal.

Delta A321 Boarding Main Cabin Economy

I boarded the Delta A321 and walked back to my Main Cabin economy seat in row 18.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Seat Review

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Seats

The Delta A321 Main Cabin seats are pretty standard for an economy flight on a narrow body aircraft. They certainly are not the worst seats in the sky, but some are better than others.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Window

Here’s my seat. There’s a missing window and that’s a bummer. If you’re riding on Delta’s A321, avoid row 18 if you like to have a window view.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Leg Room

The leg room here on the Delta A321 in the Main Cabin is decent, not amazing. I’ve not very tall so it’s no issue for me, but taller flyers, especially those with long legs will probable find it a little tight.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Power

Every row has two power outlets available. There are both 110v universal outlets and USB power.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Over Head Panel

The overhead vents on the A321 are so much better than the 737-900. I know it’s a small detail, but this is kinda boring, that’s the point.

Delta A321 In Seat Entertainment

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy In Seat Entertainment

Every seat on the Delta A321 has it’s own entertainment. There’s also an individual USB power port on the screen. The screens themselves are great, fast and responsive. The selection of shows and movies is also very good. The Delta A321s also have free wifi for Delta Skymiles members.

Delta A321 Departure and Takeoff

The flight attendants made their welcome announcements and the cabin door was closed. The pilots added their welcome and told us this flight to Milwaukee should be nice and smooth and would take just under 2 hours gate to gate.

The safety video was shown then the cabin lights were dimmed. The flight attendants passed through the cabin to make their checks. Looks to be a nearly full flight this evening.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Push Back

Outside we pushed back as the sun was starting to get low in the sky.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Takeoff

We headed to the runway. Looks like we’ll be taking off towards the east today.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Take Off

We were soon airborne and then made our turn towards Wisconsin.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Window View

As we climbed above the clouds we got a great view of the sunset. I’m on the left side of the plane so looking west while flying north obviously has this view.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Snack and Drink Service

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy In Flight Snack and Drink Service

Because it’s a nice and smooth flight, the flight attendants were quick to come around and offer a drink and snack service. Soft drinks are complementary here in the Main Cabin along side a choice of snacks. I went with the Sun Chips and a Coke.

Delta A321 Main Cabin In Flight Review

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Movie

I enjoyed my snack as I watched a movie. This isn’t a super long flight so I like that Delta has an “Under 90 minute movie” option.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Sunset View

Outside the sun had set and we got a great view of the clear sky above the clouds. It’s been a very smooth and quiet flight this evening.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy In Cabin

Back inside the cabin the flight attendants had come around and collected any garbage from the snack and drink service. The Delta A321 has nice mood-lights in the cabin to help keep it somewhat dark but still allow you to move around.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Sunset Vew

We’d slowly started to descend and it just started to get a little bumpy as we just touched the tops of the clouds.

Delta A321 Decent and Landing in MKE

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Cabin Review

The pilots and flight attendants both gave their thanks and told us to prepare for landing.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Wing

As we descended over lake Michigan it was soon completely dark outside. We did gain an hour, but Milwaukee is pretty far East in the timezone so sunset is sill pretty early.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy View

As we approached Milwaukee the lights of the shoreline came into view. I usually like to sit on the other side of the plane when going to Milwaukee, but last minute flights and I’ll take what I can get.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Landing

And on the ground here at MKK.

Delta A321 Main Cabin Economy Final Thoughts

It’s a pretty mundane economy flight, but the Delta A321 is not a bad ride at all. Nothing amazing, but perfectly acceptable. The seats are comfortable, but a little tight. The in seat entertainment is great and so is the free wifi. There’s plenty of power outlets for charging devices, both USB and 110v.

The snack service is more than enough for a short sub 2 hour flight between ATL and MKE. A snack and a soda is just what I wanted. I’ve been pretty clear that the A321 is better than the 737-900 and in Main Cabin economy there’s no exception. I’d rather be here on a Delta A321.

I’ve said it before, I’ll gladly ride on the Delta A321, it’s a good ride even here in Economy.
