So here’s a pretty standard work trip for me. This is a fun one though because it’s my first flight on an A220. This review will cover the Delta A220-100 in Economy and the Delta CRJ700 in Comfort+. I’ve ridden on the CRJ700 a lot, but never the A220.
The Delta A220 is a plane that will take over lots of flying from the MD88/MD90 series of aircraft. The A220 will also take over some routes for the 717s. I know some people don’t like the MD series of aircraft, but I have a soft spot for them. But I’m excited about the A220, it’s a unique aircraft. I’m also connecting in DTW, always a pleasant experience. Anyway, let’s get into it.

Delta CRJ700 Comfort Plus Review

Welcome to seat 7D on a Delta(Express Jet) CRJ700. This flight is between GSP and DTW.

It’s a pretty boring place to be. But Delta does a pretty good job of limiting the distance these planes fly. These planes have power ports and streaming to your own device if you are so inclined. I don’t usually bother because this flight is only about an hour.

Though it was a very beautiful day to fly.

Nice 747-400BCF sitting at the new GSP cargo terminal.

Nice night to go for a ride.

They soon had a full beverage service, but I just wanted a water. In Comfort Plus booze is included, but I wasn’t feeling it.
DTW Airport Transfer (McNamara Terminal)

Soon I was in DTW. In my opinion DTW is the best Delta hub. I landed at terminal B and needed to get to Terminal A.

Quick walk down to the tunnel.

Once in Terminal A, I decided to just walk to the gate. The train would have been faster, but I don’t mind the walk.
Delta Airbus A220-200(C-Series) Economy Review

Soon it was boarding time and I walked down to the plane. I find it funny that these planes still say C Series, even after the Airbus take over and them being called the A220 by Delta now.

This is seat 15A. Lots of leg room as it’s the exit row on the A220-200.

Nice sized personal IFE.

The windows are big, but the exit row is a little goofy and seems chunky.

Unfortunately this is where shit went wrong. We hit some sort of mechanical problem and had to return to the gate. It took about an hour and a half to resolve the issue and get us going again. The crew was great, serving water and coffee, snacks, and keeping us informed. But it still sucks to be delayed.

Finally back in the air. Cheez-its and water. I’m very boring.

Soon we were nearing Newark.

And finally in Newark. I also am not very fond of this airport, but it’s where I need to be.
We were delayed, but oh well. These things happen.
Final Thoughts
The Delta CRJ700 is good enough. Nothing fancy about a medium sized CRJ. It’s better than the 200, but I miss the extra bathroom that exists on the CRJ900.
The Delta A220 is fantastic. Large in seat entertainment, big windows, and very comfortable. It also has 2-3 seating that is always welcome. I’d gladly ride on the A220 again, hopefully I’ll get a chance again soon.
