Today I’m heading to Las Vegas for a business trip. I’m riding with Delta on their 757-200 in regular old economy. I booked this trip somewhat last minute so I’m just happy to have a window seat and not be stuck in a middle. It’s been a while since I’ve been on a 757, they were previously a weekly occurrence for me, but these days not so much. Delta is one of the last major carriers to still use the 757 and I love it.

Delta 757 Comfort Plus Review

Bottom Line: Delta’s 757s are a great airplane for passengers. The overhead bins are large, the seats are comfortable enough, and legroom is adequate. Delta’s in seat entertainment is very good and there’s power in each seat, good enough in my book.

Delta 757-200 Boarding

Delta 757-200 Boarding ATL

Boarding started right on time. Delta boards by zones, I’m in Zone 4 so I boarded when that was called.

Delta 757-200 Main Cabin Economy

Delta 757-200 Main Economy Cabin

The Delta 757 will usually board from the second door so the majority of the economy seats are to the right. To the left there is first class and Delta’s Comfort plus seats. I’m in regular main cabin economy.

Delta 757-200 Main Economy Cabin Seats

The Delta 757 has 154 economy seats arranged in a 3-3 configuration. On a west bound flight I’d prefer to sit on the right hand side of the plane, but those were all sold out so I’m on the left. The reason is because I like to look out the window, we’re in the northern hemisphere so the sun will shine into the windows on the left and I don’t like the glare.

I found my window seat on the left side of the plane and got settled in. Before other people arrive and it get’s crowded, I like to get my phone charger out and AirFly bluetooth adapter plugged in so I’m not interfering with others.

Delta 757-200 Main Economy Cabin Legroom

Leg room is adequate on the Delta 757 in economy. Nothing special but not tight. I stopped for a sandwich in the airport so that’s under the seat in front of me. My carry on is overhead.

There’s also a good amount of overhead space on these planes. They use the large height bins that allow you to turn a carry on bag onto it’s side.

Delta 757-200 Main Economy Cabin Overhead vents

It’s too bad the personal air vents suck on the Delta 757. This style just doesn’t put out enough air in my opinion.

My seat is a few rows behind the wing. Of our left side is another Delta 757, not sure where it’s heading this morning.

Delta 757-200 Push Back and Takeoff

Delta 757-200 Push Back

We pushed back a few minutes early, but then we’re tugged back in. Apparently someone left their computer at the gate and we went back for it. I find that odd. They won’t re-open a door for someone who’s connection got cut short, but they’ll drag the whole plane of 200 people back into the gate to pick up a computer? I’m not sure I feel that’s appropriate.

Delta 757-200 Window Takeoff

Anyway, 20 minutes late we’re now on our taxi to the runway.

Delta 757-200 Window Takeoff

We took off towards the west. I oddly love when the plane I’m on takes off in the direction we want to go, it only saves a minute or two but somehow that feels like a huge improvement.

We climbed pretty quickly and continued heading west towards Las Vegas.

Delta 757-200 In Seat Power, Entertainment, and Wifi

Delta 757-200 In Seat Power

One thing I give credit to Delta for is their abundance of power ports on the Delta 757. There are 2 universal AC ports in each row. There’s also USB down here. Then each in seat screen also offers a USB power port. These are all Type A USB, so a little behind the times and lacking Type C.

Delta 757-200 In Seat Entertainment

Delta also has a wide selection of shows and movies to choose from on the in seat entertainment. Just remember a bluetooth adapter if you don’t have a 3.5mm option for your headphones. I’m traveling with my small ear phones this week so I need my AirFly adapter.

Delta also has free Wifi on the 757. This service is very solid when traveling within the US. The speeds are adequate to stream music or video.

Delta 757-200 Drinks and Snacks

Delta 757-200 Main Cabin Drinks and Snacks

The flight attendants began the drink and snack service about 25 minutes after takeoff. I had some drink coupons to burn so I got a Voodoo Ranger IPA. These are good but pretty heavy.

I paired it with my Popeyes chicken sandwich I brought on board. This flight is around lunch time, sorry to those sitting around me. I didn’t want any of the snacks on offer from the flight attendants, just the beer.

Delta 757-200 In Flight

In the cabin things were quiet and calm for the majority of the trip. Most people just watching their movies and shows and relaxing on this 4.5 hour flight.

Outside we are above the clouds and have a nice smooth ride. This would change as we approach Las Vegas, but for the majority of the flight it was clear and calm.

I watched a few movies as we continued west. The landscape below changed as we pushed into the desert.

Delta 757-200 Lavatory

Delta 757-200 Main Cabin Lavatory

With about an hour left in the flight I went to the bathroom. The Delta 757 has several lavatories on board, there are 2 in the very rear of the plane, 1 in the middle near the boarding door, and 1 up front for First Class. This one is the middle lavatory. It was large enough and kept clean, but nothing special.

Delta 757-200 Approach and Landing

With about 45 minutes left in the flight, the lights were brought up and the flight attendants began to pass through the aisle to collect garbage.

Weirdly, outside we’re caught in a thunderstorm. It was bad enough that the pilots told us we’d have to fly around the storm to pass from the south. He then said that the Las Vegas airport had stopped all arrivals so it would be a little while before we landed.

I was watching the moving map and saw our new route that would see us passing to the south of the storm outside.

About 15-20 minutes of making a big circle, the weather outside had cleared and we descended into Las Vegas.

You can see the big circle that we’re making on the way to Vegas.

Delta 757-200 Main Cabin Landing Las Vegas

A few minutes later we landed in to Las Vegas. Funny how quickly the storm springs up and then disappears. Desert weather is wild sometimes.

And at the gate about 10 minutes after landed. The 757 is a great looking plane.

Delta 757-200 Main Cabin Final Thoughts

I like the 757, not sure why but it feels more comfortable than the 737. Maybe it’s the window height or the long cabin, but it’s just comfortable for me. I like that Delta has keep the passenger amenities up to date on such an old aircraft. The in seat entertainment is good, there’s power in each row, and free wifi that actually works. On a 4.5 hour trip the 757 Main Cabin Economy seats are pleasant, but not perfect. I do wish the overhead vents would move more air.

I’ll gladly take a 757 trip when I can, it’s becoming a rare aircraft these days.
