After arriving at Frankfurt on Singapore Airlines fantastic A380 in Business Class, we’re connecting to Swiss. Our flight down to Zurich will be on their A320 in Euro Business. I’ve not travelled with Swiss before, so even though this is a short flight, I’m looking forward to it. This trip was booked as a single reservation from Singapore to Zurich with a connection in Frankfort so we didn’t specifically choose business class for this leg, it was for the whole trip.

Euro-Business isn’t anything amazing, it’s standard economy with the middle seat blocked off so that no one sits there. So you get a little more space to spread out, but the leg room is exactly the same. They also offer a meal service, even on these short flights.

Bottom Line: I wouldn’t spend any extra money on Swiss Air Lines intra-Europe business class. These are short flights and the extra cost isn’t worth the benefits.

Swiss A320 Boarding FRA

Swiss A320 Business Class Boarding

After spending a little time in the FRA Airport Lufthansa Business Class Lounge, It was time to head to our gate. I’m not a huge fan of the Frankfurt airport as a whole, but this layover was short enough that I didn’t mind. Our A320 was here waiting to take us down to Zurich.

Swiss A320 Business Class Boarding FRA Airport

Boarding started right on time. They first called business class passengers along with members of various elite frequent flyer programs. Swiss and Lufthansa have the same ownership and are both Star Alliance member so they share gates and staff here at Frankfurt.

We boarded and made our way to our seats in the front Business Class Cabin.

Swiss A320 Business Class Cabin

Here in Swiss Business Class on the A320, it’s pretty standard Euro-Business. The Business Class is just economy seats with the middle seat blocked.

Swiss A320 Business Class Cabin

Swiss uses the standard slim line seats here on the A320. Nothing special to report here in the comfort department.

Swiss A320 Business Class Cabin Overhead Bins

There was plenty of overhead space for our bags, the business class cabin wasn’t completely full on this trip.

The legroom here on the Swiss A320 is fine. Nothing remarkable, with my bag under the seat in front I have enough space.

Swiss A320 Business Class Seat Legroom

No in seat entertainment here. There are some overhead monitors that came down later in the flight.

Swiss A320 Business Class Seat Legroom Seats

Swiss A320 Business Class is pretty boring, but having the middle seat open is better than not, I guess that’s something positive. Unfortunatly there’s no in-seat power or anything really, just a generic seat.

Swiss A320 Business Class Boarding Drinks

After boarding had slowed, the flight attendant passed out bottles of water and hand wipes. She also asked if we’d want to eat the in flight meal.

Rainy night here in Frankfurt. We headed towards the runway for this 90 minute flight to Zurich.

Swiss A320 In Flight Meal

Swiss A320 Business Class In Flight Meal

Just a few minutes after takeoff the flight attendant came around and had dinner for us. Even on these short intra-Europe flights, Swiss offers a small meal. I’m not sure I really liked this one, the quality was perfectly fine, I just didn’t care very much for the beet and quinoa salad.

The chicken and oranges were fine. I was pretty hopeful that Swiss would compare to Austrian Intra-Europe catering, but I was disappointed.

In flight was uneventful, it’s a Tuesday evening so mostly just business people and other quiet travelers.

There’s no in-seat entertainment on the Swiss A320. There are overhead monitors that display a moving map. The seat belt sign was on for the whole flight, not really sure why, it was pretty smooth. Short flight so it doesn’t really matter.

Swiss A320 Descent and Landing

As we traveled south, we got a nice view as we started to descend into Zurich. The pilots made their pre-landing announcement before the flight attendants began to clear away our meal trays.

Swiss A320 Chocolate

The flight attendants made one more pass through the cabin and passed out small chocolates. I was a little disappointed again as these are milk chocolate.

Swiss A320 Business Class Landing

A few minutes later we landed in to Zurich. We’re actually very early on our arrival, I’m very much looking forward to getting into our hotel after a long travel day.

Swiss A320 Business Class Final Thoughts

Swiss Business Class on the A320 is somewhat disappointing. Not that it’s bad, just that Euro-Business is kinda boring. The seats are the exact same you’d find in economy, just in business class they block off the middle seat. Gives you a little extra width, but the leg room doesn’t change.

I was expecting Swiss to be a little more like Austrian and a little less like Lufthansa, unfortunately I was incorrect. All the things I liked about Austrian short hall were missing from Swiss(good food, super friendly service) and they were replaced with the things I dislike about Lufthansa(bad food mostly).

I wouldn’t pay extra for Swiss intra-Europe Business Class, but it’s better than economy.
