So I kinda forgot about this review, I was going through some older pictures and realized I didn’t review the Jamaica Bay Inn Marina Del Rey Hotel on our mid-spring trip to California. I had some Hilton points to burn so we decided to stay here at the Jamaica Bay Inn, just off Venice Beach in Marina Del Rey.
The Jamaica Bay Inn was a great choice. The rooms were large and clean, the pool area was great for relaxing, and the location was an easy walk to the beach. We had a great time exploring the area with friends who live on the other side of LA. Weirdly, the only downside of the hotel was the lack of free Hilton Honors Breakfast and no charging for electric cars.
Bottom Line: We enjoyed our stay at the Jamaica Bay Inn very much. We wanted to stay in this area and the hotel’s location could not have been better. I’d gladly stay here again.
Jamaica Bay Inn Marina Del Rey Location
Like the name implies, the Jamaica Bay Inn is located in Marina Del Rey. This is a short walk/bike ride away from the beach and the Venice Pier. We loved staying here, we could get here from LAX very quickly via car, but once here, we could walk to all sorts of restaurants and bars in Venice. We also used Lime scooters and rental bikes to go up the beach.
The Jamaica Bay Inn is located on the marina side of the peninsula so it’s pretty quiet and has a nice view of the marina with all of the boats.
Jamaica Bay Inn King Bay View Room

We got to the hotel a little early in the day as our flight landed into LAX in the mid morning. We were able to check in and they had a great bay view room with a balcony available for us. The room itself is pretty standard. Walking in the bathroom is on the right, bed room is beyond that, with the balcony on the far wall.

We had a single king bed and I found it very comfortable. Each side of the bed had lamps with built in power points to charge devices.

Opposite from the bed, there was a large dresser with the TV. There was a welcome message on the TV when I arrived. The room was also extremely clean and well kept.

Next to the TV was a pretty generic desk. This isn’t a work trip so we didn’t use the desk for anything but making a mess.

There was a mini-fridge along with coffee making in the room. We didn’t use the coffee maker but the fridge was great for cold drinks before heading to the beach or pool.

It might be silly, but I love interesting alarm clocks. This one had a nice wireless charger.
Jamaica Bay Inn Bathroom

Our room at the Jamaica Bay Inn Marina Del Rey had an accessible bathroom, I usually try to avoid this as I don’t care for the accessible showers, but it was at least very large.

The accessible shower that I don’t care for. Because these are curbless, they tend to leak water into the rest of the bathroom.
Jamaica Bay Inn Room Balcony

Here’s where the Jamaica Bay Inn really shines, we had a great view from our private balcony.

This was a pretty slow vacation for us and we spent some time relaxing out here. There was an event for Memorial Day and they had movie night for the kids on the lawn.
Jamaica Bay Inn Pool Area and Grounds

This was a lazy vacation so we spent a fair amount of time at the pool enjoying the sunshine. There’s a great view from the pool to the bay and all the boats. Right around the corner there’s also a farmers market on Saturdays.

The hotel grounds are really nice here facing the bay, on the other side of the hotel is the parking lot and not that nice. Obviously you want a balcony room with a few of the pool and marina.
Jamaica Bay Inn Bar

As this is a lazy vacation, we did have some drinks at the bar. This was actually really nice to unwind, the bar is half inside and half out. So sitting outside and enjoying some beers was a perfect vacation.
Jamaica Bay Inn Final Thoughts
We had a great long holiday weekend here in Venice. The Jamaica Bay Inn was a perfect hotel for us to relax and enjoy some time away from home. The location for the Jamaica Bay, being right in Marina Del Rey, couldn’t be better for exploring the beach. We rode bikes up and down the beach, got dinner in Venice, and explored the area. The rooms were large and clean with our our private balcony. There’s not much more I could want from a hotel room.
I do wish the Jamaica Bay Inn had charging for electric cars, I often get an electric car on trips like this, not having to stop for gas on the way back to the airport is super convenient. Another thing to note, while the Jamaica Bay is affiliated with Hilton, it’s not a Hilton hotel so they do not offer free breakfast to elite status holders. Not a big deal for us, we don’t often get hotel breakfast, it’s something to keep in mind if you do care.
I would gladly stay at the Jamaica Bay Inn again, in fact I really hope to do a similar trip again soon.
