I needed to spend a few nights in Raleigh and I chose the Hampton Inn up in Midtown. I’ve not been to the area so didn’t really know what to expect, the name “Midtown” means so many things depending on the city.
Bottom Line: The Hampton Inn Midtown was very nice and new. It was also more full service than I expect from the Hampton Inn brand. That’s obviously a good thing, with features like a full bar, free breakfast, and modern rooms, I was glad with my choice to stay here. Let’s get into the review.

Hampton Inn Raleigh Midtown Location
I’m not super familiar with the names of the different Raleigh Neighborhoods so just going off the name, I assume this part of town is called Midtown. I mostly chose this area because of it’s proximity to where I’m working, but there are also lots of restaurants, bars, and breweries in the are. Unfortunately I was here on a Monday and Tuesday night and those tend to be days that hospitality places are closed. There are quite a few chain restaurants and bars, but I was able to find Mami’s Latin Style Rotisserie Chicken and really enjoyed it.
This area is also convenient for getting on and off I-440 on the north side of Raleigh. I wouldn’t really say the Hampton is walkable to very much, there is a Wegmans grocery across the street so that’s pretty great.
Hampton Inn Raleigh Midtown Lobby and Check-In

I arrived at the Hampton just before dinner time. I had forgotten to request a digital key in the Hilton App so I checked in with the front desk off to my right. In the back left of the hotel lobby is the bar. In the back right is where the elevators are.

This area to the left is the breakfast area. I will say this felt more like a Hilton Garden Inn or Courtyard Marriott rather than a Hampton Inn. Not that a HGI or Courtyard is a super upmarket brand, just that I don’t usually equate Hampton as a full service brand.
Hampton Inn Raleigh Midtown Two Queen Room Review

After getting my room key I took the elevator up to my room on the 5th floor. I was again happy with my choice to stay at this Hampton.
The front of the room has the bathroom to the left. There is a closet behind the door/mirror. On thie right hand side wall are some coat hooks. Beyond that was the bed area on the left. The desk, TV, and luggage rack is on the right side wall.

There were 2 queen beds. There are plenty of outlets and the night stand devided the two beds. But if you have two people in a bed, the person on the outside won’t have a nearby outlet or lamp.

Nothing super exciting here with the alarm clock, I do love an interesting one, but this isn’t that. There were two standard outlets and then 2 USB outlets.

As you can see, this is a pretty big room. Looking back into the room from near the window.

On the opposite side of the room is the desk, TV, microwave, and mini-fridge.

I made good use of the desk area on this work trip. There was a weird spot on the desk where it looks like the veneer was sanded through, not sure what happened there, the rest of the room was in fantastic condition.

The desk had plenty of power options.

Inside the TV stand was a mini-fridge and there was a microwave along with tea and coffee facilities.

On the very end of the wall there is a luggage stand with a drawer. I like that small pieces of furniture like these have become somewhat more common, I assume very few people unpack their bags fully so a luggage stand is way more valuable than a set of drawers.
Hampton Inn Raleigh Midtown Bathroom

This is still a Hampton Inn so nothing amazing here in the bathroom. It’s large, clean, and well maintained so I’m perfectly happy with it.

I did like a few of the little features in the shower. First, it’s a stall shower with sliding glass doors. I much prefer that to a tub. Second, the water valve is opposite the shower head, really a nice arrangement. The provided toiletries are the bulk variety, I know that bothers some people, just bring your own then.
Hampton Inn Raleigh Midtown Room View

This is suburbia so as usual, it’s just parking lots and chain stores. I’m facing south so you can just see the tops of some downtown Raleigh buildings.
Hampton Inn Raleigh Midtown Bar and Breakfast

In the back of the lobby the Hampton Inn Midtown had a full service bar. They even had some specialty cocktails on the rotating menu. It seemed to be a somewhat popular place to spend some time in the evenings. I’m not a big hotel bar person, so I didn’t partake.

In the lobby, every morning, there is a free breakfast offered for hotel guests. This is standard across the Hampton Inn brand. The breakfast offering here was better than most with a few hot options along side some more grab and go friendly options that I chose.

There was cold cereal.

A few hot options that changed each day I was there. On an average day there was some kind of potato, an egg dish, and some breakfast meat. There was also oatmeal with topping and then juice.

Every morning there was a make your own waffle station with different options. I mostly went for the pastries and took them on the road with me.
Hampton Inn Raleigh Midtown Final Thoughts

I liked my stay here at the Midtown Raleigh Hampton, I was pretty impressed with the hotel as a whole. It also kinda elevates the Hampton Inn brand too, I know it’s a silly little difference, but the addition of a bar is a great feature for any hotel.
I found the rooms to be large, clean, and modern. I was able to setup and get plenty of work done at the desk in the room. The area was convenient for where I was working but also good for getting some dinner after work. I wouldn’t say you’re going to be walking anywhere, but that’s just suburbia.
I would stay at this hotel again if I was in the area.
