Hotel Review: After spending a few nights camping in Denali National Park, we made our way back to Fairbanks for a quick single night. We mostly just need a night to re-group and get cleaned up before heading out of town again. I chose to stay at the Hyatt Place in Fairbanks for this short portion of the trip. The Fairbanks hotel market is a little odd, the prices are high but the redemption rates are low. It’s great for me as I rack up points during my normal work travel. I was looking forward to this part of our trip and hotel review, after camping, I’m ready for a shower.
The Hyatt Place in Fairbanks had decent reviews and I usually enjoy the brand so I booked it. I’m glad I did.
Bottom Line: The Hyatt Place Fairbanks ended up being exactly what we needed, a clean, comfortable, pleasant hotel to clean up from our last adventure and get ready for our next one. I also think the Hyatt Place Fairbanks fits a Kinda Boring Review perfectly. It’s a generic brand, but in an interesting location, kinda. Let’s get into this hotel review.
Date of stay: September 2022
Hyatt Place Fairbanks Alaska Location
The Hyatt Place Fairbanks is on the outskirts of town. This is certainly a more suburban area than the Spring Hill Suites we stayed at just a few days ago. It’s not a bad thing, just different. You won’t be walking to anything from here though, unless you really like chain big box stores.
Hyatt Place Fairbanks Alaska Lobby and Check-In

Walking in, the Hyatt Place Fairbanks is very nice. In the front of the hotel is the check in desk, then towards the back is a very nice seating area where breakfast is served.

There’s a well presented bar at the Hyatt Place too. Not much going on at 2pm though. We checked in and found our way to our room.
Hyatt Place Fairbanks Alaska King Bed Room Review

We walked into the king bed room here at the Fairbanks Hyatt Place and we were pleasantly surprised. The room was huge.

The room was divided into 2 areas. The bed area is nearest to the window. The bed at the Hyatt Place was very comfortable. There were power outlets on both sides of the bed along with an alarm clock.

Then there was a sofa sitting area on the other side of the divider. The room was very clean and felt like a somewhat new hotel.

Across from the bed and sofa is the TV with a luggage rack on the right. On the left is a coffee maker.

There is a desk too, but we’re not doing any work this trip.

Below the TV, the Hyatt Place Fairbanks has little refrigerators. Perfect for a few drinks or leftovers.

Back towards the front of the room is a closet near the bathroom. The room at the Hyatt Place is large and clean.
Hyatt Place Fairbanks Alaska Bathroom Review

The bathroom at the Fairbanks Hyatt was clean and well stocked. I like these mirrors with the lights included.

The only thing I’d change is the shower. I much prefer a stall instead of a tub, but that’s ok.
Hyatt Place Fairbanks Alaska Room View

Yea, so this Hyatt Place is between a major highway and the parking lot of a Old Navy. The view isn’t amazing.
Hyatt Place Fairbanks Alaska Pool Review

I’m not one to usually care about hotel pools, it’s just not my thing. Here at the Hyatt Fairbanks we decided to go relax in the hot tub. It’s cold outside, we’ve been camping, I want to sit in a hot tub and drink beer. The pool area is not fancy and I’m sure you can smell this picture, but it was just what we needed for an hour to relax after dinner.

I did find this sign outside of the pool funny. I’m glad the hotel is trying to keep the floors dry from dripping swimsuits.
Hyatt Place Fairbanks Alaska Review Final Thoughts
The Hyatt Place Fairbanks was a perfect hotel for a single night. The hotel was clean and comfortable. We were able to get cleaned up from our camping adventure and repack our bags ready to travel again. The location isn’t great for exploring on foot, think Costco parking lot.
The Hyatt’s room was large with all of the features and amenities that you’d expect from an Hyatt Place. We enjoyed the hotel, even though it’s not something I’d normally check out. The rooms were very clean but I wouldn’t call the hotel quiet, you could hear some foot noise from above. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind.
All in, the Hyatt Place Fairbanks was just what we needed.
