In a continuation of our trip, the final stop is the city of Olbia on the North East Coast of Sardinia. We wanted to stay right in the center of town and so I took a little bit of a risk and booked a brand new hotel that only had one review on Google. That single review of the CasAunoe Boutique Hotel was very good, but it’s always a little scary booking a hotel with so few reviews, but the location looked great and so did the pictures.

The CasAunoe Boutique Hotel is one of a few hotels right in the center of Olbia. I nearly always book hotels directly with the hotel, I don’t like using 3rd parting booking websites. I had a small issue booking on the CasAunoe Boutique Hotel website, but a quick email to the hotel sorted that out very quickly.

Bottom Line: The CasAunoe Boutique Hotel was an amazing hotel. I’ve never been more glad about the way a booking risk turned out. The CasAunoe was clean, comfortable, amazing location, unbelievably accommodating and professional staff, and just an all around gorgeous hotel. Anyway, let’s get into this hotel review.

Date of hotel stay: June 2022

CasAunoe Hotel Location and Parking

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Location

The CasAunoe Hotel is located right in the heart of Olbia. That’s exactly what I was looking for, we wanted to be able to walk around the town and be right in the middle of the small town. Parking is available just a 2 minute walk away at the train station. As always with Italian towns, watch for ZTLs if you’re in a car.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Location

The CasAunoe Hotel is one block from the Piazza Regina Margherita. A lovely little area with cafes, shops, bars, and restaurants. The hotel is on Corso Umberto, this is a ZTL street right though the middle of town that runs down to the harbor and is again lined with shops and restaurants.

CasAunoe Hotel Lobby and Check-in Process

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia lobby

The CasAunoe Hotel in Olbia doesn’t have a front desk. Check in is done on an app and a digital key is sent to your device. We received all of this information via email on our check in day. The process was smooth to enter the hotel. I love a digital key.

Inside we found a breathtaking amount of marble along the floors and running up the curved stair case. There’s a small elevator if you have bags but we mostly just took the stairs up to our room.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia lobby

This is a very small boutique hotel. The CasAunoe only has 3 rooms per floor for a total of rooms in the whole building.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Room Review

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Bed

We walked into our room at the CasAunoe and could not be more pleased with our hotel selection. The room was very large and remarkably clean. The bed had power on both sides to charge devices, USB and standard 220v was provided.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia TV

Across from the bed was a small desk and TV. There’s also 2 chairs, a comfortable chair along with a desk chair. There’s also a luggage rack in the corner. On the desk was a welcome packet that included information about the hotel, the local area, and how to order breakfast.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Room Art

All of the art in the room was bespoke. The artist information was included near each painting. A slight oddity of the room is that the internet comes from the TV, so if you turn the TV off, you loose the Wifi connection.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Room Controls

Near the front door was a room control unit that had the do not disturb and housekeeping request on it. There was also a key card in the welcome packet that could be used to enter the room, hotel, and breakfast area. This key card also activated the room power so that when you’re away, it saves power.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Room View

There was a very small balcony, I’d call it more of a floor to ceiling window, but this was a great area to dry off our towels and wet beach clothes from after our daily adventures.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Room Amenities

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Coffee

In the entry way of the room was a kettle along with coffee maker. Val really enjoys having a nice in room cup of coffee in the mornings.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Fridge

Below the coffee facilities is a small fridge with a few drinks inside. These were complementary and I love having an in-room fridge. Perfect place to keep a bottle of water cold before heading out to a beach day or exploring the island.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Bedroom

This area is right next to the closet area. There were extra towels and slippers in this area. We hung up some clothes when we first arrived.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Bathroom

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Bathroom

The bathroom was very trendy and again immaculate. A quick note, the bathroom door is frosted glass so if someone gets up in the night to use the bathroom, make sure they use the smaller light in.

On the right, behind the door, is the toilet. On the left is the shower, all tile and glass, just a perfect hotel bathroom.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Public Areas

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Stairs

Ok, I never usually care about such things, but the public areas at the CasAunoe are amazing. The hotel is really beautiful and so thoughtfully designed. This stair well is a work of art.

All of the tile work in this hotel makes we want to renovate my bathroom at home. The fun designs are carried out around the hotel.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Breakfast

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Breakfast Order

Breakfast was included at the CasAunoe Hotel. I’m not usually a big breakfast eater at hotel but we did check out the breakfast one morning and I’m so glad we did. Breakfast is ordered the night before on this card. You just fill it out then send it in via text.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Breakfast

Breakfast is served on the top floor, access is granted via the card reader on the right. We could use the room key or the app on our phones.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Breakfast

We walked into such a lovely space on the top floor. More amazing tile along with several bistro tables in the space.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Breakfast

The attendant greeted us and waiting for us was our pre-ordered breakfast. How great is that!

Along the walls were lots locally made products and art from around Italy.

The buffet where the attendant worked. This isn’t self service, I assume the rest of the items are for the other guests, but for now, it was just Val and I enjoying our breakfast.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Rooftop Balcony

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Rooftop

Upstairs leads to a very nice rooftop patio. After eating our breakfast we went outside to relax and enjoy the view.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Rooftop

Sadly we didn’t discover this area until our last morning at the hotel. I would have loved to enjoy a drink in the evening or even just relax in the morning before heading out for the day.

The view down the Corso Umberto. This is the main walking street in Olbia. Quiet morning here while we enjoyed the last few minutes we have in Sardina.

CasAunoe Hotel Olbia Final Thoughts

The CasAunoe Hotel Olbia is easily one of my favorite hotels of 2022. Everything about the say here was just perfect. The CasAunoe is in a perfect location for exploring Olbia and North East Sardinia. Walking through town in the evenings was a really nice treat. Small cities like this are becoming more common in our travel plans and it’s not hard to see why.

The CasAunoe Hotel’s rooms are very large and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and just what we needed at the end of each day. The bathrooms were spacious and I loved all the tile work along with the very nice shower. Having a small fridge and coffee facilities in the room were a welcome sight. Parking just around the corner at the train station was perfect, it’s pretty cheap too, less than 7euro for the day.

The breakfast upstairs was light and fast. Ordering ahead is a great idea and I absolutely loved the space. The rooftop balcony is a great place to hangout and I hope that soon they offer an evening beverage. The hotel is brand new and was only open a few weeks when we visited. The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Even though there’s no front desk, the amazing front desk manager was just a text away.

I’ve never booked a hotel that was so new it only had 1 google review, but I’m so glad I did. I would love to stay here at the CasAunoe hotel again. I really hope to be back soon.
