Time for a vacation. Today we’re heading to Paris but via a slightly weird routing. This being Kinda Boring, this trip begins with an American Airlines A319 economy review.
The first part of our trip to Nice and Sardinia starts with a very mundane economy review of an American Airlines A319. We were able to book great flights to France from Toronto so we need to position up to Canada before our departure.
Because we’re positioning to Toronto the day of our flight, we decided to fly directly their from Charlotte instead of making a connection and flying from Greenville. American Airlines is not a partner with Air France so flights like this do carry some risk. After our LHR ITA Airways debacle last year, I’m still a little gun-shy, but we’ll hope for the best out if this AA A319.
Bottom Line: The AA A319 seats we’re not the most spacious economy seats I’ve ever ridden in, but they we’re not the worst. They do include power in each seat, but no in-seat entertainment. The snack service was just what I needed on a sub 2 hour flight.
CLT Airport American Airlines Boarding

Just a quick note, this was the line for the Amex Centurion Lounge. I wouldn’t plan on using the Centurion lounge here at CLT any time soon. I have no desire to wait in a line, to get into a crowded lounge, to have a free drink and plate of snacks. I’d much rather just find a nice empty gate area and relax in peace.
If you want to see what the CLT Amex Centurion lounge is like, I have a review from this time last year.

We made our way to the gate about 45 minutes before boarding. Canada requires masks on planes, the US does not, there were many announcements at the gate that masks are required on this flight to Toronto. All flights to Canada, regardless of origin require masks. American was enforcing this requirement.

We boarded right on time and walked our way down to the plane. This gate here at CLT doesn’t have a view of the plane.
American Airlines A319 Economy Seat Review

In the economy section of the AA A319, we found our seats on the left side of the plane, just behind the wing. Neither Val nor myself hold any sort of AA status so we’re just regular people today.

Our seats in economy on the AA A319. I wouldn’t say this plane feels new, but it’s pretty clean so that’s nice.

The leg room on the AA A319 is adequate but nothing amazing. I’m not very tall so if you have long legs you might find this economy seat a little tight.

AA doesn’t believe that in seat entertainment is worth installing on short haul planes. There is at least power in each seat.

A little bit of an oddity is that the AA A319 overhead bins have a small divider that will block you from putting a carry on into each “space” that should allow one. It’s fine for soft bags like backpacks or a duffle, but our pelicans absolutely didn’t work.

The overhead panels on the AA A319 look a little dated, but have good induvial air vents so I’ll gladly take it.
American Airlines A319 Economy Departure

A few minutes later our completely full flight to Toronto was ready to depart. The flight attendant did their safety presentation as we pushed back. Looks like it will be a nice day for flying.

We took of to the south and soon began a large left turn to point us north towards Toronto.

Hit a few bumps as we passed through the clouds surrounding the Charlotte area. The flight attendants gave their welcome and told us it would be a 1:20 flight up to Toronto.

I like that AA has power in each seat, I charged my phone. Unfortunately the AA A319 doesn’t have any in-seat entertainment, but they do have some stream to your own device options.
American Airlines A319 Economy Snack Service

The flight attendants came through the aisle to start their beverage service. As we’re sitting towards the back, it took a few minutes but we eventually got drinks. We both decided upon Dr Pepper. The benefits of American Airlines being based in Texas.

The pretzels have pictures of the different of AA hubs. Today we got DFW and DCA.
American Airlines A319 In Flight Review

I finished my soda and did a little window watching. This American Airlines A319 economy flight is not exciting but so far has been perfectly pleasant. We crossed over the north side of the great lakes and into Canada.

So far the seats are perfectly comfortable. I wouldn’t say spacious, but they are adequate for the short flights the AA A319 takes. This plane will never fly more than 2-3 hours and the amenities and seat comfort are reflective of that.
The flight attendants came through and collected the trash from the beverage service.
American Airlines Toronto Arrival

Just as downtown Toronto came into view the flight attendants gave their fair well and the pilots instructed to prepare for landing.

Our A319 landed into YYZ just a few minutes early. Always welcome when making an un-protected connection. Toronto has been in the news a little bit about delays, but lucky for us, we’re right on time.
American Airlines A319 Final Thoughts
I don’t ride on American Airlines very often, but this A319 flight to Toronto was perfectly pleasant. Most importantly, this flight to YYZ was on-time. AA’s A319 don’t have many creature comforts, it’s pretty basic, but it wasn’t uncomfortable.
The seats we’re not the most spacious economy seats I’ve ever ridden in, but they we’re not the worst. They do include power in each seat, but no in-seat entertainment. The snack service was just what I needed on a sub 2 hour flight. I like that AA has Dr. Pepper, only a few airlines serve it and every once in a while I just want one.
At the end of the day, I’m glad we took this flight. It’s direct to where we needed to be. Living close to Charlotte is great because of the large AA hub there. It’s not quite close enough to always use, but for long vacations, it’s pretty nice.
