This trip didn’t go as planned, I was scheduled to be here for 4 full nights, well it’s day 2 and I’m heading home.
Anyway, today’s review will be of a Delta A320 in economy. Then a Delta 737-900, again in economy. I called on my way to the airport to change to these flights so I’m just happy to make the flight, even if I’m sitting in the back. If I kept my original schedule, my upgrade had already cleared, but no way I’m going to sit around in Nebraska just to fly in First Class for 2 hours.
This is the same route, just in reverse as the outbound. But this time I can review the Delta A320 in economy, another thing I haven’t done in a while.
It’s been super cold in Omaha this week. Single digits are rare for me so this was definitely an experience. I dropped off my rental car and made the walk to security.
Bottom Line: The Delta A320 is a great plane to ride in, even in economy. It’s one of the better options in the Delta fleet when it comes to short haul flights. The A320 is not a particularly exciting plane to review, but it’s at least a good ride.
Omaha Airport Departure

The rental car facility here at OMA is super modern it’s quite a juxtaposition in comparison with the rest of the somewhat older airport. Looks like there’s lots of updates planned for the OMA airport.

OMA doesn’t have a central security area, instead each concourse has it’s one security checkpoint. Very old school and not particularly efficient.

After passing through I only had 10 minutes to kill before boarding time. I found a nice quiet bench to relax.
Delta A320 Economy Boarding Review

Our Delta A320 waiting at the gate here at OMA.

Soon boarding was called. First and Delta Comfort+ were called. Then when it was Sky Priority I was the only one.

Little surprising that I was the only Plat/Gold medallion that hadn’t been upgraded already. I was number 9 on the list for First.
Delta A320 Economy Seat Review

When boarding this caught my eye. This plane is turning 30 years old this year. It’s one of the older planes in the Delta fleet but you’d never know from the interior.

I soon found my exit row seat in row 15. On the Delta A320, the second exit row, 16, is the better of the two. But that wasn’t available because I booked so late. Row 15 has lots of legroom, but no recline so it’s not quite as nice.

There’s lots of leg room in these seats. Even with my bag under the seat in-front of me, I have lots of space in the Delta A320 economy exit row seats.

The in seat entertainment is good, and there’s power in each seat that I used to charge my phone.

The flight attendants and pilots both made their greetings before we pushed back. The pilots told us about our route and that it will be nice and smooth until we near Memphis, then there is a little rain that might spoil the ride.
Delta A320 Economy In Flight Review

After pushback the lights were dimmed as we taxied out to the runway. Our flight to Atlanta will be 1:50 minutes so I decided to put on a movie.

We took off to the North West and soon made our turn back towards Atlanta. It’s very windy and cold outside and we took off quite quickly.

Even in economy, the Delta A320 offers a good selection of movies.

The flight attendant then made an announcement about what beverage options are available. It was a nice afternoon for flying.

They soon came through the aisle with the beverage cart. I’m very boring and just had water. The seatbelt sign was turned off and we were told by the pilots we’d be “a good 10-12 minutes early.” Always great to arrive early.

As we crossed over Missouri the flight attendants collected the garbage and we settled into the rest of the flight. The sun soon started to get low in the sky. Loosing the hour from the time change and the early afternoon departure makes for a nice sunset.

As we approached the Memphis the flight attendants made an announcement that the seatbelt sign would be going back on soon and now would be a good time to use the bathroom if needed. The pilots did turn the sign back on and told us about some weather in the area.
Delta A320 Arrival Into Atlanta

As the sunset outside we were passing through some clouds. It’s not super rough weather with about 35 minutes left in the flight when the pilot told us we had begun descending into Atlanta.

Under the clouds after sunset we got a great view of the ATL airport as we passed by to approach from the correct direction.

On our final approach into ATL.

On the ground here at ATL. We landed almost a half hour early so that’s great. Unfortunately it’s not quite early enough to catch an early flight to GSP. I’m going to end this review here as I don’t think anyone wants to see another Delta 737-900 review from me, there are plenty in my catalog.
Delta A320 Economy Review Final Thoughts
The Delta A320 is a great plane to ride in, even in economy. It’s one of the better options in the Delta fleet when it comes to short haul flights. The A320 is not a particularly exciting plane to review, but it’s at least a good ride.
I’d gladly ride on the Delta A320 again in economy. The leg room found in the exit row seats is great, lots of space. The service isn’t anything amazing, but this flight isn’t very long so obviously no one should be expecting champagne in economy this flight.

Between my flights I did find myself in the Delta Skyclub here at ATL. I’ll enjoy myself for a few minutes before heading all the way home to GSP.
