Honolulu Airport has a Delta Skyclub and we need to kill some time before our flight so we’ll be heading there and I’ll be reviewing the HNL Skyclub. HNL also has a Cultural Garden area that we decided to check out. We have nearly 3 hours before our next flight and sitting outside for a little bit sounds nice.

Getting to both the HNL Skyclub and the HNL Cultural Gardens is easy and worth the effort, especially on a long layover. While the Skyclub has entry requirements, the Cultural Gardens are open and free for everyone.

HNL Cultural Gardens Location

HNL Cultural Garden Location

Right in the middle of the Overseas terminal is the Cultural Garden. There are several entrances but all of them involve going down a flight of stairs.

HNL Cultural Garden Location

For us, because we’re departing on Delta via the E gates, the Cultural Gardens are super convenient. There are plenty of signs to get you outside. They are right at the base of the concourse where it meets the main terminal.

HNL Cultural Gardens Review

HNL Cultural Garden

Once outside, there is a corridor around the exterior then a set of paths through the gardens. Being in an airport but able to enjoy a little outdoor quiet is so nice.

HNL Cultural Garden

Walking through the center of the HNL Cultural Gardens are fountains and coy ponds.

HNL Cultural Garden

That’s not a statue, it’s a bird watching the fish. It’s night time and the gardens are nice and peaceful.

HNL Cultural Garden

There are several structures in the gardens, they are to represent the Hawaiian, Chinese, and Japanese heritage that exist on the Hawaiian Islands.

HNL Cultural Garden
This is a very nice area to just relax before a flight or during a connection.
HNL Cultural Garden

I think more airports should have nice outdoor spaces, my home airport of GSP has one, but there should be more. After about a half hour in the gardens we decided to get a snack and drink in the Skyclub.

HNL Delta Skyclub Location

HNL Delta Skyclub Entrance

At HNL the Delta Skyclub is located right next to gate F1 in Terminal 2. It’s a short walk from the gates that Delta uses here at Honolulu. It’s just on the left, under the signage.

HNL Delta Skyclub Entrance

The entrance to the Skyclub isn’t anything extravagant or over the top. Out front, due to Covid, there is check-in that requests your vaccine card before you can enter the lounge.

HNL Delta Skyclub Seating

HNL Delta Skyclub Seating

Walking into the Skyclub, to the left is the bar, buffet, a seating section, and the bathrooms.

HNL Delta Skyclub Seating

To the right is some more seating, along with a TV area, and business center. We decided to go find some seats over there as it was more quiet.

The seating is standard Delta Skyclub with a mixture of chair types. But pretty much all of them had power to charge devices.

HNL Delta Skyclub

It’s not a particularly large space and unfortunately there aren’t any windows, but it’s very well kept and clean.

HNL Delta Skyclub Amenities

HNL Delta Skyclub Buffet

The Delta HNL Skyclub has a staffed buffet. There are also soft drinks and coffee available.

HNL Delta Skyclub Bar

There’s also a full service bar with draft beers. The lounge is all decorated from Halloween. I like when the out-stations do little touches like that to make it somewhat unique.

HNL Delta Skyclub Food and Drinks

HNL Delta Skyclub Food and Drinks

Val opted to have a small poke bowl with rice along side a Mai Tai.

HNL Delta Skyclub Food and Drinks

I had meatballs and rice along side tea. I’m very boring and not really in a drinking mood. While relaxing the lounge attendants came around and checked to see if we needed anything, the service here at HNL is excellent.

Final Thoughts

After our nearly 3 hour layover I’m ready to get moving and heading home. We packed up our things and headed for the gate. The flight we’re on is one of the last Delta flights to the mainland of the day. I’m very much looking forward to our Delta A300-900 Neo First Class(Delta One Suites) flight.

The HNL Cultural Gardens are such a nice way to break up a trip. It’s a great place to relax during a layover or before a flight. It’s very close to the gates that Delta uses along with many other overseas airline departures. It’s an easy walk from the Wiki-Wiki Shuttle bus too. I’m very much looking forward to visiting again, even if its just an hour.

Delta’s HNL Skyclub is great. It’s not the biggest or most fancy Skyclub, but the food is good, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the drinks are flowing. The HNL Skyclub doesn’t have a view of anything, but it’s a pleasant way to relax before a flight back to the mainland or Asia. Delta has some good outstation Skyclubs and this might be my favorite, but it’s of course bittersweet as vising this lounge means I’m leaving Hawaii.

After our ride over on the Wiki-Wiki walking to either of these destinations is easy and I would fully recommend either one.
