Welcome to Orlando. This is a hotel that I’ve stayed at lots of times for work. My first visit was back in 2014. I’m not sure much has changed. It’s a generic Hilton Garden Inn. It’s best feature is that it’s very near to Universal Studios. It’s also a partner hotel so there is shuttle service to the parks. I’ve never used it as I’m here for work, but I’ve seen the buses, though not in this trip.

This hotel is starting to show it’s age. Nothing to avoid yet, but it’s getting time for a re-fresh. This hotel is also very cheap. My nightly rate was $78, as a Diamond member, I would get free breakfast, though I didn’t partake as I’m avoiding as much contact as I can. Anyway let’s get into it.

Like I said, very generic hotel. It’s Orlando, on iDrive, very meh. I don’t want to discourage anyone from staying here, but I really dislike Orlando. I’ve just spent too much time in this city.

However this was my entrance. As with my other trips, I’m using the side entrances, stairs, and Hilton App to avoid contact with people.

As I’m using the Hilton App and stairs, I chose a room near the stair well. This is as much of the hotel as I saw. I honestly never went into the lobby. I had no need.

Close enough to sealed. I do like that Hilton is doing this. It’s more of cleanliness theater, but I at least know they somewhat care.

Into the room. Very generic business hotel. Nothing fancy in this place. Desk, chair, luggage rack, a few lamps, and the bed.

I did get good use from the desk this trip. Mostly for eating my dinners. I’m doing exclusively takeout and delivery when I travel. I really am thankful for the delivery drivers.

TV and sealed remote. They also left a few alcohol wipes on the counter. I guess you could use them on surfaces like the phone. I just avoid using those items for the first day or two. It’s a nice touch, but not super useful for me.

Comfy bed, alarm clock, lamps, and plenty of outlets on both sides of the bed.

The coffee station and mini fridge. I appreciate this more during COVID than I ever have. A place to store leftovers is really nice. Along with that, I can put my water bottle in the fridge and have a nice cold drink for the next day. This hotel also had a Keurig coffee maker, I’m not a big coffee person but this is nice for people who are.

I also really like the microwave. I just wish they would included a roll of paper towels.

This bathroom could be in any hotel in America. There’s got to be thousands like it.

As plain as it is, it was clean. I’m not looking for too much more than clean these days.

Back out into the world.

Final Thoughts

This is a very boring hotel. I’m sure tons of people use it as a base for a Universal Studios vacation. With good reason too, it’s close, they have transportation, a pool, and tiki bar. I didn’t use any of those features. All I wanted was a clean and quite hotel. One where I didn’t have to see anyone. This hotel was the perfect place for that.

I would stay here again…(awkward foreshadowing)
