After visiting family in Florida, it’s time to head home. When going home from Valerie’s parent’s house, we often fly from GNV. It’s about the same distance as MCO from their house, but GNV is an easy airport to deal with. I don’t like MCO so GNV is a breath of fresh air.

Anyway, we’re heading home.

On This Trip

1: GSP-ATL-MCO Delta 717 Economy and Delta 757-200 Economy. More Covid Flying

2: GSP-ATL-MCO Southwest 737-700. Slightly less boring flying during COVID-19

4 :GNV-ATL-GSP Delta CRJ900 Comfort+ and Delta A321 Economy. Heading home from Florida.

     4.1: GNV Aiport
     4.2: Delta CRJ900 Comfort+
     4.3: ATL Airport Transfer
     4.4: Delta A321 Economy Review

GNV Airport

Like most small airports, Gainesville airport is easy. The entire check in area is to the right.

Security is straight ahead. I’d recommend using this bathroom if you need it. The one after security is tiny and busy.

After breezing through security, we found some seats. COVID distancing in place.

My biggest reason to use a small airport is to save time, we got to the airport 40 minutes before departure and still sat around for 10 minutes. That won’t happen at MCO or TPA. We soon started the boarding process, only 3 gates here, but they seem to be expanding.

Delta CRJ900 Comfort+

Well this is boring. A CRJ900 flight that’s about an hour long.

At least we have good seats. I’ve been booking lots of basic economy lately, and we end up in good seats anyway.

The row just behind First Class on the CRJ700/900 is excellent. Leg room for days, power, and if you sit on the right, no one hits you walking down the aisle.

Mostly empty flight. Sign of the times.

Florida summer afternoon. Pretty normal clouds. Gainesville was particularly swampy that day.

On the way to ATL.

Between some layers.

Nice little snack kit today. I like almonds, but not as much as I like cheese-its.

Turned into a beautiful, smooth day.

Relaxing flight. Tray tables are in the arm rest and I was feeling lazy. This works.

Clearing up as we decend.

Passing to the South of ATL.

And on the ground.

Saw a nice looking Delta 777 hanging out. I’m sad to see these leave, I’ve enjoyed my 777 flights. Delta kept them comfortable in economy with 3+3+3 seating. Very unlikely I’ll fly one before they retire.

At the gate.

ATL Airport Transfer

We arrived at the D concourse.

Quick ride on the train over to A.

Just in time to see our plane arrive. Yes, I know that’s an A319. We were originally scheduled on this plane, we got a gate change pretty quickly.

After a quick walk to the end, here’s our actual plane. I’ve never flown on an A321 into or out of GSP.

Delta A321 Economy Review

And onto the long Airbus. We’re seated all the way in the back section past the exit row.

Lots of empty seats on this flight. Expected when you sub an A321 for an A319 during COVID.

Usual IFE at every seat.

Leg room is good enough.

Nice day here in ATL. I don’t sit behind the wing much, nice change of pace.

Mood lights on display. Really empty plane.

Super solid snack bag on this flight.

Really short flight today, just going to watch some moving map today.

And into GSP. Super boring flight. It’s 30 minutes in an A321.

And out the door. Very boring day and just what I needed.
